BROOKLINE, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's soccer shut out Northeastern, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Parsons Field.  

Caroline Dickson recorded her second consecutive multi-goal game with a pair against Northeastern, becoming the first Minutewomen since Melissa Kössler in 2019 to register a brace in consecutive games (2 at George Mason, Sept. 26, 2019; 2 at Saint Joseph's, Sept. 29, 2019).

The Minutewomen improve to 6-1-0 overall to close out their non-conference schedule, while the Huskies moved to 2-4-2 on the season.   

Dickson put Massachusetts on the board first with a tally in the 23rd minute. Dickson took a pass from Nia Hislop and sent it towards the bottom right of the net to give UMass the 1-0 lead.

The Minutewomen held on to its lead  throughout the first 45 minutes. UMass tallied six shots in the first, limiting Northeastern to only three shots.

In the second half, Dickson secured her second goal of the contest, and sixth of the year, at the 71:14 mark. Taking a pass from Libby Fisher, Dickson found the bottom right of the goal again to pull Massachusetts ahead, 2-0.

At the 77:52 mark, Monica Curry posted her sixth goal of the year, sending the ball past the Northeastern keeper to the bottom right of the net. Curry's goal extended UMass' lead to 3-0.

The Minutewomen maintained their lead with a couple of more scoring opportunities. The Huskies tried to find the back of the net in the final minutes, but goalkeeper Leah Nisenfeld halted their efforts to keep the clean sheet.

Massachusetts totaled 14 shots with 10 on frame, while Northeastern registered 10 shots, placing seven on net. The Huskies had the slight advantage in corners, 5-4.

Curry posted a career-best five shots to lead the Minutewomen, as Dickson tallied four shots. Kayla Nohasiarisoa had two with Kaila Steen, Nia Hislop and Morgan Bellamy taking one shot apiece. All four of Dickson's shots were on target, followed by Curry's three on goal and Nohasiarisoa putting two on frame.

Through 90 minutes of action, Nisenfeld stopped seven shots and allowed no goals for her second shutout of the season, and ninth of her career.

Eliza Teplow of Northeastern spent the full 90 minutes in net, allowing three goals and making seven saves.

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio soccer team (3-3-0) returned to action on Sunday (Sept. 13) afternoon, defeating Duquesne (3-4-1), 2-1, at Rooney Field to close out nonconference play. 

Overall, Ohio scored two goals with 13 shots in total. They had seven shots on target and took three corner kicks. Meanwhile, Duquesne scored one goal on 17 shots in total, with five on target and 11 corner kicks.

Freshman Ava Bell (Hudson, Ohio) recorded one goal on two shots on goal, while junior, Sania Dearing (Pickerington, Ohio) added a goal on two shots. Senior Jaimason Brooker (Powell, Ohio) recorded an assist, while junior Iro Fakinou (Athens, Greece) added an assist and two shots with one on goal.  

Freshman Ayla Rammel (Englewood, Ohio) got the start in goal, allowing one goal and making three saves in 90 minutes of action.  

The Bobcats, playing from home, were immediately put under pressure, with Duquesne using the energy from the home crowd to their advantage. However, the Bobcats offense picked up after the opening minutes, when in the 27th minute, Brooker took the ball in the middle of the pitch, delivered a long ball to Bell, who run into space with the ball and scored against the run of play to put Ohio ahead early.

At the half, Ohio's had one goal from five shots and four on target, while taking three corners. Duquesne had nine shots with three on target and four corner kicks but no goals to show for it. 

In the second half, the game continued in the same pattern, with Duquesne dominating proceedings yet finding it difficult to get an equalizer. The Bobcats took advantage early in the second half, when in the 51st minute, Dearing received a great pass from Fakinou, took a few strides and put the ball in the back of the net, putting Ohio up 2-0. 

Duquesne took cut the Ohio lead back to one two minutes later with a goal of their own in the 53rd minute to cut the lead to 2-1. Both teams battled over the remainder of the match, with both teams generating chances, however, the Ohio defense was able to hold Duquesne at bay, securing the 2-1 win. 

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's soccer rallied from two goals down for a 2-2 tie against IU Indy in the regular season non-conference finale at Paul Hotmer Field on Sunday.

The Rockets (4-2-1) got several chances early, but could not convert as the match remained scoreless until the 34th minute, where IU Indy (2-4-2) scored twice in three minutes for a 2-0 lead at halftime. Toledo controlled much of the second half, where Ella Zoerhoff scored in the 62nd minute off a corner kick and in the 74th minute from a left-footed turnaround strike.

Toledo held an 18-14 edge in shots, including 9-6 in the second half. Zoerhoff took six shots to lead the Rockets. Toledo also carried an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Paige Dornheggen made five saves to lead Toledo.

Zoerhoff has scored eight goals in seven matches (1.14/match), already the most goals for a Rocket in a season since Morgan Otteson in 2022. The sophomore striker has scored in five of Toledo's seven contests and has two multi-goal efforts.
