LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior Lizzie Bultynck scored with just over four minutes to go, lifting the Bowling Green State University women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over the University of Kentucky on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 6). The non-conference thriller was held at the Bell Soccer Complex.
For the Falcons (3-1-1), the win was the first over an SEC team in program history and the first over a Power Four school in 25 years.
Senior Audrey Oliver also scored for the Falcons, while classmates Ella Kane and Emme Butera each had assists in the win.
Kane, who began her collegiate career at UK, assisted on Oliver's goal with just over 18 minutes gone. Butera began the scoring sequence by playing a ball into the 18-yard box. Kane, on the left side of the box, one-timed it back into the path of Oliver, who volleyed it into the upper half of the goal to give the visitors the lead.
The Falcons took that advantage into the half, but the Wildcats (4-3-0) equalized with just over an hour gone. Kyla Dawn knotted the score with a header off of a Michelle Moskau corner kick at the 61:23 mark.
But, the Falcons had a 6-1 advantage in shot attempts in the game's final 12 minutes. With just over eight minutes to go, junior Alexis Tsaprailis hit the crossbar after a long individual run, and just under four minutes later, Bultynck gave the Orange and Brown the lead.
After a foul and a yellow card on the Wildcats near midfield, Butera took the ensuing free kick. From near the BG bench, the senior played a long ball into the box. Bultynck was there to redirect the ball past UK goalkeeper Megan Holland for what would prove to be the winning goal.
Junior Payton O'Malley had four saves in the win, with all four stops coming in the second half. Holland made five saves for the Wildcats.
BGSU had advantages of 10-8 in total shot attempts and 7-5 in shots on goal. UK had six corner kicks to the Falcons' one.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer team rallied past the University of Southern Indiana, 3-1, at Scicluna Field Sunday, Sept. 6, scoring three unanswered second-half goals to complete a comeback victory and improve to 2-1-2 on the season.
After trailing 1-0 at halftime, Eastern showed its resilience with a dominant second-half performance that featured season highs in shots (19) and corner kicks (10). The Eagles outshot the Screaming Eagles 19-2 and held a 9-1 edge in shots on goal, turning relentless offensive pressure into three second-half goals to secure the result.
How It Happened
The University of Southern Indiana struck first in the 12th minute when Liza Anderson converted her only shot of the match, assisted by Tierney Mullady and Shea Krakowski, to give USI a 1-0 lead that held through the break.
Coming out of halftime, EMU pressed with urgency. Forward Olivia Sipsock (Medina, Ohio/Medina) earned a penalty kick opportunity early in the second half, but USI goalkeeper Merrick Schwalbach turned it away to keep the deficit intact.
Eastern kept pressing, and the breakthrough came in the 63rd minute. Defender Christie Fransen (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster/Bowling Green) stepped up and calmly converted a penalty kick to level the match at 1-1, sparking the comeback in earnest.
With just over nine minutes remaining in regulation, forward Lauren Yaquinto (Northville, Mich./Northville) put Eastern ahead for the first time, finishing a setup from forward Avery Hilvert (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) at 80:44 to make it 2-1. The go-ahead goal was Yaquinto's first of her career.
Midfielder Tayla Maddock (Camlachie, Ontario/St. Patrick's Catholic High School) sealed the result in the 88th minute, coming off the bench to score the insurance goal and complete the 3-1 final. Schwalbach finished with six saves on 19 shots faced for the University of Southern Indiana.

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State soccer team got a first half goal from Kaelyn Valleau and a shutout defensive performance to beat Eastern Illinois 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Briner Sports Complex.
The Cardinals (3-2-1) picked up their second straight win after a 1-0 decision last Sunday against Cincinnati. The visiting Panthers (2-2-2) could only generate five shots (one on goal) for the afternoon against the Ball State defense.
Valleau found the back of the net in the 33rd minute to give the hosts a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Both LG Moncrief and Francesca Terrasi were credited with their first assists of the season to lead to the shot for the senior, who was recognized in a pregame Senior Day ceremony along with five other Cardinals.
Kylie Archer, Annika Klauss, Kate Klinginsmith and Terrasi joined Valleau as Ball State players placing a shot on goal. Audrey Goodyear, Ainsley Schaufele and goalkeeper Kate Pallante went the full 90 minutes for the hosts.
Pallante made one save in completing her third clean sheet of the season and second in a row.
Ball State took more shots (14-5) and got more corner kick opportunities (5-1) than the Panthers while also being whistled for more fouls (8-4).

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's soccer secured a 4-1 victory on Senior Day over in-state rival UMass Lowell on Sunday afternoon at Rudd Field. Freshman midfielder Monica Curry registered her second career brace, notching the game-winning goal in the 56th minute.
Kayla Nohasiarisoa dished out her first collegiate assist, before tallying another for two points.
The Minutewomen improve to 4-1-0 overall, while the River Hawks moved to 1-4-1 on the year.
Massachusetts got on the board early to make it a 1-0 game at the 10:27 mark. Caroline Dickson found the ball in the box before passing to Nohasiarisoa. Nohasiarisoa tangled up with a UMass Lowell defender, sending the ball back towards Dickson, as she took a shot from just outside the six-yard box to hit the back of the net.
The River Hawks knotted up the match, 1-1, with a goal from Gaby Eckroth in the 33rd minute before the end of the first half.
Curry put the Minutewomen back on top at the 55:13 mark with her third goal of the season. Nohasiarisoa passed the ball to the top of the box with Curry dribbling It to the right corner. Curry then blasted a shot through the right side to make it a 2-1 contest.
UMass was awarded a penalty kick off a UMass Lowell handball in the box. Amelia Deren converted her second penalty kick of the season to push Massachusetts ahead, 3-1, in the 60th minute.
The Minutewomen extended their lead at the 74:52 mark to lead 4-1. With the ball in UMass' offensive zone at midfield, Curry stole the ball away from the River Hawks and created a break away for herself. Inside the 18-yard box, the UMass Lowell goalkeeper started to challenge Curry, but Curry took a shot before and sent it past the keeper.
Massachusetts outshot UMass Lowell, 15-5, which included eight shots on frame to the River Hawks three. UMass Lowell had the slight advantage in corner kicks, 5-4.
Curry tied her career-high four shots, followed by Dickson with three. Nohasiarisoa and Lexi Terry posted two shots with four Minutewomen tallying a shot. Curry, Dickson and Nohasiarisoa all placed two shots on net.
Junior goalkeeper Leah Nisenfeld saw 90 minutes of action in net for Massachusetts, making two saves and allowing one goal. For UMass Lowell, Hannah Callaghan spent 90 minutes between the posts, stopping four shots and allowing four goals.
