The Miami University soccer team cruised to a 3-0 win against Western Carolina University Friday night after goals by Maris Jennings, Kayla Perfect, and Devin McElroy. Miami recorded a season-high 17 shots from 12 different shot takers en route to their victory. The RedHawks move to 4-4-0 with the result. WCU is now 2-5-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Miami jumped onto the scoreboard early in the 6th minute after a great run down the sideline by Millie Cook that was crossed and headed in by Jennings, 1-0.
  • Morhéa Hoefen tricked a defender inside the box, but the shot went wide left in the 21st minute.
  • In the 29th minute, Tyrakoski attempted a volley shot after a pass from Katie O'Malley, but it went right at the keeper.
  • The RedHawks doubled their lead in the 65th minute from a beautiful leading pass by Tyrakoski that was knocked in by Perfect, 2-0.
  • Miami's third goal came just four minutes later in the 69th minute from an incredible long-range shot by McElroy, assisted by Caroline Mortonson.
NOTES
  • McElroy scored the first goal of her career.
  • Macy Berg and Lily Berhalter made their collegiate debuts.
  • Jennings now has a three-game point streak, the longest of her career.
  • Mortonson tallied her first point of the season off the assist.
