JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Addie Martin homered twice and drove in five runs as the Bowling Green State University softball team trounced Tennessee State University, 12-0 in six innings, on Saturday morning (Feb. 21). The game, part of day-two action in the ETSU Tournament, was held at Betty Basler Field.

In the second game of the day, host East Tennessee State University hung on for a 3-2 win over the Falcons (8-2).

BGSU pitching allowed just four hits – two in each game – in 12 total innings on Saturday.

Martin, a redshirt sophomore, had a pair of two-run homers against the Tigers in Saturday's opener, while junior Taylor Behrendt had a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double. Another junior, Cameron Kaufman, doubled and homered, scoring three runs in the win.

Sophomore Madison Wendel picked up the victory in the circle, facing just three batters over the minimum in five innings of work. She allowed two hits, walking one and striking out three. Classmate Morgan Beckham retired all three batters she faced in the sixth inning as the duo combined on a two-hit shutout.

In game two, junior Alyvia Roth fired a complete-game two-hitter, but one of those hits was a two-run homer by Payton Moore that broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning.

Senior Hannah Hunt led off the sixth inning with a homer that cut the ETSU lead in half, but Bucs pitcher Eden Muncy then retired the next six batters to close out the win.

BGSU-TSU – HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a scoreless first frame, BGSU broke on top in the second. Cameron Kaufman led off the inning with a single, and Addie Martin's one-out homer to center gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
• The fourth inning began very similar to the second, as Kaufman led off with a hit, this time a double, before trotting home on Martin's one-out round-tripper.
• Ava McKee then singled, and Kendall Mathews walked. After a wild pitch, Hannah Simko reached on an error that allowed pinch-runner Delaney Davis to score, and Katie Hutter's ground ball to the right side plated Mathews and gave BG a six-run lead.
• Meanwhile, BGSU starter retired the first 11 Tigers she faced, before allowing a two-out double to Jace Jackson in the bottom of the fourth. A walk put two runners aboard before Wendel got an inning-ending ground ball.
• The Falcons tacked on a run in the fifth inning, as Hannah Hunt walked before Kaufman's sacrifice bunt moved Izzy Ray to second. A ground ball advanced the runner to third, and Ray scored on Martin's single, for Martin's fifth RBI of the morning and a 7-0 lead.
• Then, in the sixth, the Falcons sent nine batters to the plate, scoring five runs. McKee had a leadoff single, and Mathews reached on an error. Katie Hutter was hit by a pitch, and Taylor Behrendt followed with a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double.
• After a fly ball produced the second out of the inning, Kaufman homered to left to put an exclamation point on the win. Morgan Beckham replaced Wendel in the circle and worked a one-two-three inning as BG captured the run-rule win.
• Martin was 3-for-5 with two homers and the five RBI, while Kaufman was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, a homer, a sac bunt, three runs scored and two RBI.
