Lock Haven vs. Lock Haven Open I | Results
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven men's wrestling team returned to action and hosted the Lock Haven Open I Tournament today (Sunday, Nov. 30) in Thomas Fieldhouse.
Competing both attached and unattached, a total of 18 Bald Eagles wrestled today as Lock Haven hit the home mats for the first time this season and it was a trio of Bald Eagles that led the way for The Haven.
Conner Heckman headlined a standout Lock Haven trio as he was a perfect 3-0 on the day - on the way to the title at 141 pounds.
Heckman had one pin on the day and he downed Vinnie D'Alessandro (Bucknell, UNA) 4-1 in the finals.
Both
Ousamane Duncanson and
Tucker Hogan advanced to the finals at their respective weight class to help lead the way for The Haven behind their individual runner-up tournament finishes.
Hogan – ranked No. 32 at 197 pounds – pushed his way into the finals with a pair of dominating wins that came by way of a tech fall and a major decision.
Duncanson picked up a pair of wins at 165 pounds.
Both Hogan and Duncanson officially finished the day 2-0 after medically forfeiting in the finals to non-collegiate competitors.
Hunter Gould picked up three wins on the day and finished 3-1 overall in today's action, good enough to place third at 141 pounds.
Hogan was one of five Bald Eagles ranked nationally this week by InterMat (Nov. 25). Along with Hogan,
Gable Strickland (No. 29, 133 lbs.),
Wyatt Henson (No. 23, 141 lbs.),
Lucas Kapusta (No. 28, 149 lbs.) and
Avery Bassett (No. 32, 174 lbs.) were all nationally ranked at their respective weight class.
Up Next for Lock Haven:
The Bald Eagles will open Mid-American Conference (MAC) dual action at home on Friday, Dec. 5 vs. longtime rival Clarion. The annual White Out match is set for a 7 p.m. start in Thomas Fieldhouse.
