ATHENS, Ohio—Intermat released its national rankings after two weeks of competition on Tuesday, ranking redshirt senior Garrett Thompson at #8 nationally at 174 lbs.
 
Thompson is coming off a stellar 2024-25 season in which he posted a 30-7 record, going 10-1 in duals and an undefeated 7-0 in MAC competition. He recorded four falls and nine technical falls, earning multiple podium finishes and establishing himself as one of the MAC's top competitors. Thompson took home the title at 174 lbs. at the 2025 MAC Wrestling Championships and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.
 
The Bobcats return to the mat Saturday night at the Convocation Center for a highly anticipated dual vs. Big Ten opponent Wisconsin. The Bobcats defeated the Badgers in a dual meet at last year's Wisconsin Showcase, 25-14. The meet will start at 7 p.m., tickets are available at ohiobobcats.com, and the meet will be streaming on ESPN+.
