Miami Takes Early Lead at MAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships with Pair of Relay Victories

CARBONDALE, Ill. – After the opening finals session of the 2024 Mid-American Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, the Miami RedHawks lead with 80 points thanks to a big first night in the pool. 

The RedHawks opened the championships with a victory in the 200 medley relay as Owen Blazer, Adrian Dulay, Henju Duvenhage and Jack Herczeg combined for a time of 1:25.72, a Dr. Edward J. Shea Natatorium record. 

Miami capped off Wednesday night with another victory as Uros Djokovic, Iar Rodrigues-Kmiliauski, Bryce Menchhofer and Allen Cotton touched first with a time of 6:26.53 in the 800 free relay. This was also a new pool record. 

Southern Illinois finished second in both relays as the Salukis sit in second place with 68 points. Missouri State and Ball State are tied for third with 62 points, while UIC’s 56 points are good for fifth. 

Evansville (52 points) and Valparaiso (48 points) round out the field in sixth and seventh, respectively. 

Competition returns on Thursday at 11:30 am ET with prelims before the second finals session begins at 7 pm ET.
