MAC Announces Men's and Women's Swimmers and Divers of the Week

MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

May touched the wall second in the 100 free, posting a time of 47.72, after earlier placing third in the 50 free with a time of 21.39.
 
MAC Men’s Diver of the Week
Hunter Ongay, Ball State       
Senior, Mooresville, Ind. (Mooresville)        
Senior diver Hunter Ongay led the charge for Ball State in Thursday’s diving-only dual at IUPUI, winning the 3M competition with a season-best score of 294.80. A two-time Mid-American Conference Men's Diver of the Week selection so far this season, Ongay was also Ball State's top performer on the 1M board, placing third with a score of 282.00.
 
MAC Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Jillian Lawton, Buffalo

Jillian Lawton continued her dominant season as she won all four events she swam in the 178-122 win over Miami (OH) on Saturday afternoon. Lawton’s performance propelled the Bulls to a 4-0 record on the season, thus far. To start the day, she helped her team to a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay in 1:42.64. Individually she won the 50 freestyle in 23.42-seconds. The school record holder also won the 100 butterfly in 55.17-seconds. To close out the day she swam in the 400 freestyle relay to give the Bulls the win in the event in 3:25.43.
 
Nicole Maier, Miami University (Oxford)     
Sophomore, Bottrop, Germany (Willy-Brandt-Gesamtschule)        
This Saturday, Nicole Maier unleashed a storm of event-winning swims against The University at Buffalo. Starting her meet off with a win in the 200 yard freestyle (1:49.56), Maier out-split the second place finisher by nearly a second in the last 50 yards. She was the only swimmer to break the 1:50 mark in that event. After the first break, Maier stepped up to win the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.93. She was the only swimmer to slide under :51 seconds in the race. Following the second break, Nicole closed out her individual races with her final win of the day in the 400 yard individual medley at a time of 4:25.94. She cruised to a victory, winning by over :08 seconds as the only swimmer to finish under 4:30. Immediately after her decisive win the 400 IM, Maier turned around and posted the fastest split on Miami’s A 400 yard free relay with a time of 51.49.
 
MAC Women’s Diver of the Week
Victoria Franz, Buffalo           
Junior, Buffalo, N.Y. / Sacred Heart  
Victoria Franz once again won both the 1 and 3-meter dives for the fourth time this season in the same meet. She scored a season-best 319.43 points in the 1-meter winning by nearly 30 points. In the 3-meter she scored an impressive 331.35 points for a 27-point margin of victory.
