YPSILANTI, Mich. – The University of Massachusetts captured the inaugural Mid-American Conference Women’s Rowing Championship on Saturday at Ford Lake, earning the league’s first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing Championship.
The Minutewomen delivered a dominant performance throughout the day, winning all five championship races to total 36 team points. Delaware finished second with 27 points, while Temple placed third with 26 points. High Point (17), host Eastern Michigan (14), and Toledo (6) rounded out the team standings.
UMass opened the championship by winning the Women’s Varsity Eight (1V8+) Final with a time of 6:37.5, ahead of Temple (6:40.8) and Delaware (6:45.4). The Minutewomen followed with another victory in the Women’s Second Varsity Eight (2V8+) Final, crossing in 6:49.2.
In the Women’s Varsity Four (1V4+) Final, UMass continued its strong showing with a first-place finish in 7:25.7, narrowly edging Delaware’s 7:32.4. The Minutewomen later added wins in both the Women’s Third Varsity Eight (3V8+) and Women’s Second Varsity Four (2V4+) races to complete the championship sweep.
Delaware recorded runner-up finishes in the 1V4+, 2V4+, and 3V8+ races, while Temple posted second-place finishes in the 1V8+ and 3V8+ finals. High Point earned a third-place finish in the 1V4+ race, and Eastern Michigan placed second in the 3V8+ final.
With the conference title, UMass secures the MAC’s automatic berth to the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing Championship, scheduled for May 29-31 in Gainesville, Ga.
