MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – University of Akron junior Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) and seniors Kellen Fletcher (Valencia, Pa.) and Kaitlyn Sikorski (Plymouth, Minn.) combined to score 12 goals to propel the Zips to a 16-3 triumph at Central Michigan on Saturday (April 25).
Akron will open Mid-American Conference Championship play on Thursday (April 30) with a 2 p.m. showdown versus third-seeded Eastern Michigan in Moon Township, Pa.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Hinchcliffe led all scorers with a game-best six goals to go along with a pair of assists on the strength of a game-high eight shots, all on goal.
• Fletcher and Sikorski each netted three goals, while adding two, one and one tallies, respectively, were seniors Heather Carey (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) along with sophomore Julia Mattingly (Leonardtown, Md.).
• Fletcher led the Zips with a game-high four assists, while adding two, two, one and one assists, respectively, was Baumer, Hinchcliffe, Mattingly and Sikorski.
• Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Adrianna Califano (Bellmore, N.Y.) recorded five saves in the match for Akron.
• Mattingly paced Akron with five draw controls, while four different Zips registered a pair of caused turnovers.
• Sophomore Kayla Murphy (Annapolis, Md.) tallied a game-high five ground balls.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- Mackenzie Blackwell scored five goals, Emerson Henry added a hat trick, Leah Rings tallied the first goal of her career, and the Eastern Michigan University defense stood tall once again as the Eagles closed the regular season with a convincing 16-4 Mid-American Conference road win at Youngstown State University, April 25, at Farmers National Bank Stadium in Youngstown, Ohio. The Eagles (10-6, 5-2 MAC) reached double-digit wins for the first time in program history while winning their program-record fifth league game as they held the Penguins (3-13, 2-5 MAC) to four goals, marking the third time in seven MAC contests EMU limited an opponent to four or fewer goals.
How It Happened
Eastern Michigan wasted no time asserting control as it scored the first six goals of the first quarter with six different players finding the net. The opening run was started by Kendall Nagle (Sudlersville, Md./Queen Anne's County) on an assist from Tracy Grollman (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School) and was followed quickly by tallies from Roya Khaleeli (Rancho Palo Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula), Stella Burke (Peterborough, Ontario/St. Peter's Catholic Secondary), Grollman, Henry (Ashburn, Ontario/Donald A. Wilson) and Blackwell (). Youngstown State got on the board late in the first, but EMU led 6-1 after 15 minutes.
The Eagles continued their dominance in the second with Blackwell adding two more goals, including a free-position shot, while Kelsea Dague (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) capitalized on a woman-up opportunity. Grollman and Reagan Riemer (Perry Hall, Md./Notre Dame Prep Academy) combined to set up key goals during the period to give EMU a 10-2 advantage at halftime.
Henry powered in her second and third goals during the third and fourth quarters, respectively, while Amber Alderman (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) and Blackwell continued to pile up points. Late tallies from Katheryn Wilson (Dacula, Ga./Mill Creek) and Rings (Comstock Park, Mich./Rockford), which marked her first career goal, sealed the 16-4 margin. The defense, anchored by standout goalkeeping from Maddy Porter (Montrose, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson), stifled Youngstown State throughout, limiting the Penguins to just four goals and recording 14 saves as a unit.

AMHERST, Mass. – The Massachusetts women's lacrosse team led 6-0 before the game was six minutes old, on the way to a dominant 19-5 win over Kent State on Saturday afternoon. On her Senior Day, Norah Prizzi tallied a career-high seven points behind three goals and four assists to lead the offense. The win marked UMass' 10th straight to clinch the outright MAC Regular Season Championship, owning a 14-2 overall record and 7-0 in conference play.
The Minutewomen will now look ahead to the MAC Tournament beginning next Thursday, hosted by Robert Morris in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. UMass will face the fourth-seeded and host Colonials in the semifinals on Thursday at 11 a.m.
UMass has now won 10 straight games for a seventh straight season.
Along with Prizzi's seven points on Saturday, Kassidy Morris had five goals and an assist while Dylan Lyons scored four goals. It marked Lyons' third straight four-goal game, seventh hat trick in a row and 11th consecutive multi-goal game.
Scarlett Cifarelli finished with a UMass career high three assists, while Sienna Diglio posted two groundballs, four caused turnovers and a draw control, along with a career-high two points – both assists.
Lyons and Heather Clark also caused three turnovers as well, with Clark rounding out the scoring with her first-career goal, and point. Emma Dengler posted career highs in goals (2) and points (3) on her Senior Day.
Just 4:37 into Saturday's game, Morris had a hat trick and UMass held a 5-0 lead. The fourth Minutewomen goal featured a pair of defenders connecting as Diglio found Bridget Valentine.
Prizzi's first goal was a sensational behind-the-back tally with 9:40 remaining for a 6-0 advantage, then after more than six minutes without a goal from either side, she gave UMass a 7-0 advantage.
The scoring pace slowed down a bit, but the Minutewomen continued to increase their lead. A Katie Peterson goal, from Morris, gave UMass a 10-1 advantage midway through the second quarter. Scores from Lyons and Dengler in the final seconds of the first half gave the Minutewomen a 12-2 halftime lead.
UMass increased its advantage early in the third, scoring four of the first five – the final in that stretch coming from Morris for a 16-3 fourth-quarter lead.
The Minutewomen cruised from there, with Peterson, Dengler and Clark scoring consecutively for a 19-4 advantage, on the way to the 19-5 final.
Final shots were 37-19 in favor of UMass, with groundballs tied at 19 and the Minutewomen holding a 19-7 edge in draw controls. Cate Marshall had 17 draws to reach 141 on the season, which is sixth in program history. The goalkeeping duo of Bayley Duffy (three saves) and Aidan Summer (five stops) combined to top eight of 13 shots sent their way.
The Minutewomen return to action on Thursday at Robert Morris in the MAC Semifinals, with the winner advancing to the championship game (also held at Robert Morris) on Saturday at 12 p.m. All games can be seen on ESPN+.

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The RMU women's lacrosse team secured the No. 4 seed in the upcoming MAC Women's Lacrosse Championship after beating Detroit Mercy 15-5 on Saturday afternoon.
FIRST HALF
The Colonials found quick success, going out to a quick 3-0 lead over Detroit Mercy. Taylor Cadeau started the scoring at 13:19, finding the back of the net off a pass from Lea Otts. Madison Prietz then extended the Colonial lead to three, scoring back-to-back goals, both unassisted, to put RMU up 3-0. The Titans broke up the scoring at 4:40 before the Colonials put up another two on the board to wrap up the first quarter scoring. Madison Prietz picked up a first-quarter hat trick, scoring again at 2:59 to make it 4-1 before Mia Berthoff got in on the action with just 19 seconds left to make it 5-1 at the end of the first.
A three-goal second quarter by the Colonials would extend the lead to 8-1 going into the half. Berthoff scored at 7:43 for an unassisted goal before Taylor Cadeau got in the stat sheet with an unassisted goal at 3:19. Berthoff then recorded her own hat trick, posting her third goal of the game with 2:48 to end the second quarter scoring.
SECOND HALF
Second half action started with the Colonials posting a quick three-piece, scoring back-to-back-to-back to go up 11-1. Samantha Brothers got RMU started off with a pass from Lea Otts at 13:12 before Amanda Dolis scored just over a minute later on a dish from Gabi Puzevic to make it 10-1. Berthoff then posted her fourth goal of the game at 8:20 to make it a double-digit lead before Detroit Mercy ended the scoring drought on a woman-up goal from Libby Cuckler to make it 11-2 at the end of the third.
Once again, the Colonials started the quarter with a 3-0 run to quickly find themselves up by 12. Brothers picked up her second goal of the contest, with Otts once again being credited with the assist. At 7:44, Greta Burns entered the equation, burning one past the keeper off a pass from Taylor Cadeau to make it 13-2 before Cadeau scored another goal of her own, from Otts, to make it 14-2 just under a minute later. The Titans picked up their third goal of the contest to make it 14-3 before the Colonials closed out their fourth quarter scoring with Brothers recording a hat trick of her own off an assist from Natalie Malush, marking Malush's first career assist and point. Detroit Mercy put together a small run, closing out the contest with back-to-back goals to make the final score 15-5.
