Massachusetts Named MAC Regular Season Champions | Box Score
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis earned its first Mid-American Conference regular season title after defeating Buffalo, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon.
The Minutewomen concluded the regular season with a 16-4 overall record and a 7-1 record in the MAC, while the Bulls moved to 19-6 overall and 6-2 in the league.
Massachusetts grabbed the doubles point, earning wins at courts No. 3 and No. 1.
Madara Markevica and
Martina Pavissich took down Buffalo's Sarah Hartel and Julia Laspro, 6-3, at No. 3, but the Bulls tied up the doubles match. At No. 2 doubles, Buffalo's Blanca Berges and Liv Roestel won 6-4 over
Amelia Tye and
Amanda de Oliveira.
Ella Faessler and
Renata Farima clinched the double point for the Minutewomen coming away with a 7-6(3) triumph at court No. 1.
UMass carried its momentum into singles action, picking up five of six points. Faessler finished at court No. 1 with a quick 6-2, 6-1 victory over Andresen of Buffalo, followed by Pavissich defeating Buffalo's Glowacka, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 3. Tye clinched the triumph for Massachusetts after downing Laspro of Buffalo, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 2 singles.
Buffalo earned a point at No. 4 singles, as the Bulls' Hartel won 6-4, 0-6, 6-3 over
Fiona Ao, but Farima kept the Minutewomen on track with a three-set victory of 6-3, 2-6, 11-9 at court No. 5 over Roestel of Buffalo.
Duru Baycan also earned a point at No. 6 singles after taking down Buffalo's Berges, 6-2, 6-3.
Massachusetts prepares for the Semifinals of the MAC Championships on Saturday, April 25. The seeding and tournament bracket to determine time and opponent will be set at a later time.
Ball State Clinches Rivalry Thriller Over Miami on Senior Day
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team closed out their 2026 campaign on a high note Sunday, securing a 5-2 victory over MAC rival Miami (OH) at First Serve Muncie. With this final win, the Cardinals end the year with a 10-9 overall record and a 3-5 mark in conference play. Prior to the match the Cardinals paid tribute to their lone senior
Asia Ting Fontana, who claimed match point today on court No. 3.
"I'm feeling a mix of emotions right now," Fontana said. "While I'm incredibly sad to be leaving this amazing team, I'm so happy to end my tennis career on such a high note. Winning both my singles and doubles matches on Senior Day is a rare feat in college tennis, and it truly means the world to me. I wish I could stay, but I know this team is going to do great things next year. They've got this."
You'd never have known it was the Cardinals' season finale based on their dominant double's performance against rival Miami. Fontana and
Sydney Hrehor stepped up in the lineup and made quick work of Nina Marcela Chavez Vicente and Maria Komar, winning 6-0 to give Ball State an early spark. While the RedHawks took a hard-fought victory on the top court, the No. 3 duo of
Alana Bristow and
Gabriella Barrera mounted a gritty comeback. After trailing 4-5, they held serve to lead 6-5 and ultimately secured the doubles point with a 7-5 win.
Ball State carried its momentum into singles play, claiming four of the six opening sets against Miami.
Priyanka Rana dominated on the top court with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Maria Luisa Oliveira, extending the Cardinals' lead to 2-0.
While the Redhawks kept the score tight,
Isabel Tanjuatco delivered a confident straight sets win on court No. 5 to bring Ball State within one point of the overall victory.
The match ultimately rested on the shoulders of lone senior Asia Fontana; after trailing 5-1 in the second set, she mounted a spectacular comeback to force a tiebreaker. Fontana triumphed 7-6 (7-1) over Lovisa Valentinsson, clinching the match for BSU.
Toledo Concludes Season with Battle of I-75 and Win Over Bowling Green | Box Score
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Sophomore
Annika Munson clinched match point as the Toledo women's tennis team posted a 5-2 win over Bowling Green on Sunday in the Battle of I-75 presented by Fremont Federal Credit Union.
This victory marks the 10
th-straight win over the Falcons, a stretch that dates back to the 2021 dual season. The Rockets (11-8, 6-2 MAC) concluded the regular season with three-straight Mid-American Conference wins and will be the No. 3 seed in the 2026 MAC Championship next weekend in Oxford, Ohio.
Munson fired off a straight-set win on the No. 5 court to clinch match point, 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).
Anastasia Akuginova tallied a 6-1, 6-1 win on the No. 4 court while
JJ Scholten earned a three-set, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 win on the No. 1 court.
Gaby Rondon secured a 7-5, 7-6 win on the No. 6 court to round out the Rockets' singles courts wins.
Toledo won the doubles point behind a 6-3 win on the No. 1 court from
Iva Jankovic and
Neha Guru, and a 7-5 victory from Rondon and Akuginova on the No. 2 court.

Western Michigan Ends the Season with a Win at Eastern Michigan | Box Score
YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team wrapped up the 2025-26 season with a 5-2 win at Eastern Michigan on Sunday afternoon.
Western Michigan (13-8, 4-4 MAC) battled hard for the doubles point.
Julia Frazier and
Polina Khotko picked up the first win, 6-2 at No. 3 over Regi Mendez Carreno and Kseniia Saenko. The Eagles tied it up with a 6-4 win at No. 1 by Matilde Parreira and Sabrina Tolstova. The decisive point came down to the No. 2 match between WMU's
Marielou Baudouin and Frieda Weijerman against EMU's Iva Daneva and Zuleyka Hukmasabiyy. The two teams battled to a 6-6 score, with the Broncos coming up with the 7-4 win in the tie-breaking set to go up 1-0.
Weijerman opened up the scoring in singles, defeating Pehal Kharadkar 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3. EMU got on the board after Lara Diaz Zayas defeated
Ayana Yaguchi 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 to cut the lead to 2-1. Eastern Michigan tied it up at 2-2 with a win at No. 1 by Hukmasabiyy over
Lola Glantz 6-2, 6-2.
Western Michigan retook the lead thanks to a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 against Parreira and then senior
Audrey Smitek earned the match-winning point in her final appearance in the Brown and Gold. Smitek defeated Tolstova 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 2 to push ahead 4-2. Baudouin then added the fifth and final point with a 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 win over Mendez Carreno at No. 6.
