Massachusetts Tennis Clinches Spot in MAC Championships with Triumph Over Western Michigan | Box Score
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – University of Massachusetts tennis clinched one of four spots in the 2026 Mid-American Conference Championships, set for April 25-26, in Oxford, Ohio, after securing its eighth straight victory with a 6-1 triumph over Western Michigan on Friday afternoon at West Hills Athletic Club.
Additionally, Massachusetts earned its sixth consecutive MAC win.
The Minutewomen improved to 15-3 on the season and 6-0 in MAC play, while the Broncos moved to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in the league.
Massachusetts secured the doubles point with wins at courts No. 1 and No. 2.
Ella Faessler and
Renata Farima jumped out to a quick 6-1 victory over Frida Weijerman and Marielou Baudouin of Western Michigan at No. 1 doubles. The Broncos tied it up as Julia Frazir and Polina Khotko defeated
Martina Pavissich and
Madara Markevica, 6-4, at the No. 3 spot.
Coming back from a 4-1 deficit,
Amelia Tye and
Amanda de Oliveira knotted up their match at 5-5 at court No. 2. The duo fought back to a 7-6(6) triumph over Western Michigan's Audrey Smitek and Lola Glantz to clinch the doubles point for the Minutewomen.
UMass continued to dominate through singles action, taking five of the six points. Farima finished first with a 6-1, 6-1, win over Khotko of Western Michigan at the No. 5 position, followed by Faessler's 6-3, 6-1, triumph over Glantz of the Broncos at court No. 1. Markevica took down Baudoin, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 6 slot, before Tye downed Weijerman at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1.
Western Michigan's Smitek picked up the lone point for the Broncos after winning, 6-4, 6-4, at court No. 3 over Pavissich, but
Fiona Ao defeated Sienna Osbourne of Western Michigan in three sets at No. 4 singles. Ao won, 3-6, 7-5, 10-2.
Massachusetts concludes its time on the road with a conference match-up at Toledo on Sunday, April 12, at 12 p.m., in Toledo, Ohio.
Miami Takes a 6-1 Victory Over Dayton
DAYTON, Ohio – The Miami University tennis team earned a strong 6-1 win over the University of Dayton this Friday afternoon. The RedHawks secured the doubles point early and carried that momentum through singles play to finish the match.
Miami picked up wins on courts one and three in doubles. In singles, Miami won five matches to seal the team victory.
Maria Luisa Oliveira set the tone with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 performance.
Allie Faulkner battled through a tight match, earning a 7-6, 6-2 win.
Nina Chavez Vicente delivered one of the strongest performances of the day, coming back to win 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (15-13) in a long third-set tiebreak.

Bowling Green Takes Down Defending Champion Buffalo
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Women's Tennis team took a hard-earned 4-3 victory over the first-place and defending MAC (Mid-American Conference) Champions, Buffalo Bulls. The Falcons advance to 6-1 at home on the season
The Buffalo Bulls entered the contest 5-0 in the MAC and 18-4 on the year.
Libby Blair clinched the match for the Falcons taking a victory on Court #4.
This is the first time since the 2020-21 season where the Falcons have won multiple MAC games in a season.

SINGLES
- Tia Clemens had a dominant singles performance, defeating Esmee Andresen 6-0,6-1 on court #3.
- On Court #2, Julia Laspro def. Qianyu Liu 7-5,6-1.
- Kiera Taylor earned a huge point for the Falcons, taking a 6-3, 6-4 victory on Court #3.
- Court #4 was the clinching match. The match went all the way to the third set, but ultimately Libby Blair was victorious taking a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
- Court #6 ended in a Blanca Berges victory over Leticia Fonseca in three sets, 5-7, 6-3, 6-0.

The Falcons look to take the momentum with them to Northern Illinois University, as they take on the Huskies on Sunday (April 12). First serve is scheduled for 12 pm.
Toledo Takes Down Ball State | Box Score
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Toledo women's tennis team captured a 4-3 win over Mid-American Conference opponent Ball State in Muncie, Ind. on Friday afternoon.
The Rockets earned wins on four out of six singles courts to take the match victory. Sophomore
Annika Munson clinched match point with a 6-2, 7-5 decision on the No. 6 court.
Freshman
Isabella Barretto competed on the No. 1 court for the first time this dual season and came up with a 6-3, 6-2 win.
JJ Scholten fired off a straight-set win on the No. 2 court while
Neha Guru battled to win a three-set match on the No. 4 court, 0-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Ball State edged out the doubles point after taking a 7-5 win on the No. 1 court and a tiebreaker win on the No. 3 court.
Anastasia Akuginova and
Gaby Rondon tallied a 7-5 win on the No. 2 court.
Toledo returns home to take on UMass on Sunday, April 12. Competition will take place at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts (outdoors) or Twos Athletic Club (indoors), weather dependent. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
