Alvarado-Reid, Wiles Tabbed Scholar Athletes of the Week

The Scholar Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and/or female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. An institution can nominate up to one male and one female student-athlete per week in any of that current season's sports. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).

Week’s Achievements (detailed description of week’s events): Kian Wiles earned an event win at the Meyo Invitational, hosted by the University of Notre Dame, Jan. 30-31, taking first place in the mile championship with a personal best time of 3:59.78. This time currently leads the MAC and is fifth best in EMU program history.

Week’s Achievements (detailed description of week’s events): Central Michigan’s Luciana Alvarado-Reid won all-around (39.425) against No. 8 Georgia, Temple and Fisk. This mark was the second-highest all-around score of her career and her 21st all-around event win. Alvarado-Reid is ranked first in the MAC on uneven bars and floor; nationally, she sits 19th on bars and 33rd on floor.
