MAC Announces Week 9 Baseball Weekly Awards

Kent State infielder continued to swing a hot bat for the Golden Flashes on the road this week at Ohio State and Miami.

In the Flashes' victory over Ohio State on Wednesday going 2-4 with three runs and three runs driven in. The graduate student opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the top of the first inning. Later the MAC leader in doubles added another with an RBI double in the third inning.

Over the weekend in Oxford the infielder recorded five hits and drove in eight runs with a pair of four RBI days. Jatczak now has four games on the season with four or more RBIs. On Sunday Jatczak hit his eighth homer on the season and 20th double on the season.

Eastern Michigan senior left-hander Drew Beckner pitched a gem in his start against the Toledo Rockets Friday, April 11. Beckner tied his NCAA Division I career high with eight strikeouts for the third time this season and second game consecutively, as he didn’t allow an earned run, pitched 6.2 innings into the game, and held opposing batters to a .174 average. His eight strikeouts rank as the second most in a game in the MAC and the most strikeouts from a single pitcher over the weekend. Beckner also held strong with runners on base, limiting his opposition to a .200 clip (2-for-10). Furthermore, the zero earned run start marked the first of Beckner’s NCAA Division I career.
