DETROIT (AP) — Preston Stone threw three touchdown passes and Northwestern dominated from start to finish in a 34-7 victory over Central Michigan on Friday in the GameAbove Sports Bowl at Ford Field.

Stone completed 19 of 32 passes for 226 yards and three scores, leading the Wildcats (7–6) to their sixth straight bowl win under coach David Braun. Griffin Wilde paced the Northwestern receiving corps with 10 catches for 97 yards and two touchdowns, while Caleb Komolafe added a short rushing touchdown. Lawson Albright also found the end zone on a receiving score.

Northwestern took control early and never looked back, building a multi-score lead by halftime. The Wildcats’ balanced attack was complemented by stout defense, which limited Central Michigan’s offense throughout the afternoon and forced multiple turnovers.

Central Michigan (7–6) avoided the shutout late in the fourth quarter when Joe Labas connected with Brock Townsend on a 3-yard touchdown pass, capping a late drive for the Chippewas. It was Central Michigan’s lone score against a Northwestern defense that held firm for most of the contest.

The GameAbove Sports Bowl, played before a lively crowd at Ford Field, marked the second all-time meeting between the schools and added another postseason victory to Northwestern’s résumé.
