Ohio Swim & Dive Ends Day One of TYR '85 Invite in First Place
ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio swimming and diving team traveled to Lynchburg, Virginia, (Nov. 21) to compete in the TYR '85 Invite, hosted by Liberty University. The Bobcats lead the invite after one day of competition, earning four first-place finishes.
Ohio finished the day in first place with a score of 897, followed by the hosts, Liberty, with a score of 754, Campbell with a score of 390, UNC Pembroke with a score of 350, Saint Francis with a score of 224, California (PA) with a score of 177, Georgia Southern with a score of 81, and UNC-Asheville with a score of 29.
The Bobcats opened the finals meet with a first-place finish in the 4x50-yard freestyle relay. Freshman
Tori Wittenberg, junior
Zita Szoke, sophomore
Jordan Claypoole, and junior
Katie Buroker finished with a time of 1:30.85.
In the 500-yard freestyle, senior
Anna McGrath finished in third place with a time of 4:57.95, and freshman
Katrina Kollin finished in fifth place with a time of 4:58.62.
Freshman
Juliette Daigneault was the top Bobcat finisher in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:02.90. Senior
Emily Ellsworth finished in third place with a time of 2:03.37.
Szoke took home the first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.34, while Wittenberg finished in fourth place with a time of 23.24.
In the 4x100-yard medley relay, the Bobcats earned a second-place finish, with freshman
Lily Baumgartner, senior
Casadie DiBetta, Claypoole, and Szoke finishing with a time of 3:35.80.
To wrap up Friday Night Lights, junior
Astrid Pichardo competed in the 1-meter dive, finishing with a score of 294.25, earning her the first-place finish. Freshman
Bella Basford finished in third place with a score of 264.20.
The Bobcats return for day two of the TYR '85 Invite tomorrow, November 22
nd, starting with prelims at 10 a.m., and finals starting at 6:00 p.m.
Akron Zips Continue to Cruise at Magnus Cup | Results
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Akron delivered a dominant showing Friday at the Magnus Cup Invitational, stacking up relay wins and individual titles to highlight the second day of competition.
Akron stayed in first place after finishing the second day with 1,031 points. Northern Colorado placed second with 788 points while Bowling Green rounded out the top three with 699 points.
The Zips opened the evening with a statement victory in the women's 200-yard medley relay, as
Felicia Klintemar,
Claire Cox,
Callie Parkes and
Ada Szwabinska touched first in 1:39.36, topping Northern Colorado and Bowling Green.
Klintemar carried that momentum into the 100 butterfly, winning the event in 52.95. Akron placed four swimmers in the A final, with Parkes finishing fourth,
Addy Soehnlen fifth and
Avery Knight seventh.
Hannah Trainer added a 10th-place finish.
Akron's depth continued to show in the B and C finals, where
Maggie Patterson (11th) and Szwabinska (12th) led the second heat and
Ava Withey added a 20th-place finish.
In the 400 IM, Patterson returned to take third in 4:25.34, while
Madelyn Bosler placed fifth.
Carrie Caniglia (13th),
Cora Spetz (16th) and
Brienne Trumpower (38th) contributed additional points in later heats, and Soehnlen picked up another top-32 finish in the D final.
Akron closed the night with another top performance as
Helena Lalkovic won the 200 freestyle in 1:49.04, edging Northern Colorado's Kyra Rabess.
The Zips saw
Sophia Stamm lead the way in the 3-meter dive with a 6th place finish and a score 250.20 points.
Paige Bush placed 10th with a score of 234.40.
Through two days, Akron's mix of top-end speed and depth across all finals positioned the Zips among the strongest programs in the field as the meet moves into its final day.
Janne Slegers Posts Seventh-Best 200 Freestyle in Program History as Rockets Finish Day Two of West Virginia Invitational
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Senior
Janne Slegers finished with the seventh-best 200 freestyle time in Rockets history on day two of the West Virginia Invitational on Friday night in Morgantown, W. Va.
Slegers' time of 1:48.64 won her the event and broke her previous career record. The 800 freestyle relay team of
Helena Pinto Coelho Lopes, Slegers,
Tiana Temelkova and
Claire Kemmere gave the Rockets their second top-10 finish of the evening, finishing in seventh with a time of 7:33.97.
In the 200 medley relay, the Rocket team consisting of
Leah Evans,
Grace Henely,
Kenzie Robinson and
Helena Pinto Coelho Lopes placed 11
th with a time of 1:44.90.
Other top-15 finishes included a 12
th place 100 breaststroke time for
Grace Henely, a 14
th-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay for
Lindsay Bright,
Kalyna Pyk,
Clarke Doyle and
Sarah Poach, and a 15
th place finish for
Kenzie Robinson in the 100 fly.
The Rockets are currently in sixth place after two days of competition in Morgantown, sitting less than 100 points away from fifth-place Drexel. Toledo will compete in the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 fly and 400 freestyle relay Saturday evening.

Ball State Swim & Dive Maintains Lead After Day Two at House of Champions
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Ball State women's swimming and diving program picked up right where it left off 24 hours ago at the IU Natatorium, maintaining first place out of 13 other teams with 1,893.5 points after two days at the 2025 House of Champions. The women sit comfortably ahead of UIC (1,383.5) and Missouri State (1,201.5).
With five event wins, along 11 top five placements, Ball State also saw a trifecta of program records.
Senior
Payton Kelly notched a first-place performance in the A Final of the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.86, besting a record mark of 53.23 which she claimed during prelims earlier in the day. Both times beat her original mark of 53.52, which previously stood as the program standard heading into the day.
Besides Kelly, the A Final of the 100 backstroke saw four other Cardinals qualify, including
Ava Butterfield (2nd place, 54.24),
Lauren Fecher (5th place, 55.82),
Olivia Owens (6th place, 55.88), and
Alyssa Messenger (8th place, 56.21).
Sophomore
Anna Keen found herself in second place in three different final events on day two. Keen opened the individual portion of the evening with a finishing time of 28.49 in the 50 backstroke, followed by a time of 53.97 in the 100 butterfly. In the 100 breaststroke, Keen secured the fourth-best time in program history, touching the wall at 1:01.77.
Grace Walker once again shined on the diving board, taking first in the final on the 1-meter board with a score of 281.20.
The Cardinals opened and closed the day again with relay wins. The team of Fecher,
Addie Beasley, Keen and Kelly turned in a winning performance in the 200 medley relay (1:40.00), while the team of Kelly,
Milagros Amione,
Alexa Von Holtz,
Reagan Graves joined forces for a program-leading time of 7:21.87 in the 800 freestyle relay.
The women's squad looks to wrap up their trip tomorrow for the third and final day at House of Champions, with prelims beginning at 10 a.m and finals at 5 p.m.
Miami Swim & Dive Has Another Good Showing at the Miami Invitational
OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University swimming and diving team continued strong on day three of the Miami University Invitational on Friday, Nov. 21, at Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center against seven other teams. After day three the women's team is in first place with 1117 points. Other placements include the University of Notre Dame in second (1110), Indiana State University in third (751.5), Marshall University in fourth (703), the University of Indianapolis in fifth (551), Illinois State University in sixth (385.5), Valparaiso University in seventh (73) and Ouachita Baptist University in eighth (71). The men's team is in third place with 1115 points. Other placements include the University of Notre Dame in first (1192.5), the University of Indianapolis in second (1150.5), the University Ouachita Baptist University in fourth (634) and Valparaiso University in fifth (363).
How it Happened:
- Day three kicked off with the women's 100-yard butterfly where Natalie Gilson finished in eighth place, turning in a time of 56.48.
- Up next was the women's 400 IM where Rebekah Gurley finished fourth, earning a time of 4:19.66.
- The women's 200-yard freestyle was next where Kaylin Herbet finished seventh, turning in a time of 1:49.44.
- After that was the women's 100-yard breaststroke where Gilson finished third with a time of 1:01.68.
- The women's 100-yard backstroke was next where Ella Ziegert was fourth with a time of 54.66.
- Next was the women's 200-yard medley relay where the women's A team finished sixth. Ziegert, Gilson, Herbet and Julia Waechter earned a combined time of 1:41.93.
- For diving events, Sydney Rice finished second in the 1M dive with a score of 270.15. Mia Meinhardt was third, turning in a score of 255.50. Nora Kowalski finished fourth posting a score of 247.05.

UMass Swimming & Diving Complete Day One at Terrier Invite
BOSTON – The University of Massachusetts swimming and diving team completed day one of the Terrier Invitational, hosted by Boston University, on Friday evening at the FitRec Competition Pool.
The Minutewomen sit in fourth with 268 points, while the Minutemen hold 234.5o0 points to rank fourth.
Preliminaries
In the preliminaries, sophomore
Hannah Schoenauer and freshman
Flora Klimesch advanced to the B Finals of the 500 freestyle after placing 11th (5:02.88) and 12th (5:03.62), respectively. Senior
Lexi Alexen (5:05.63, 17th) and junior
Ece Yildirim (5:07.75, 19th) earned their spot in the C Finals in the event.
Sophomore
Maria Grishaeva secured a spot in the A Finals of the 200 individual medley, recording the fourth fastest mark in the all-time records of 2:04.52 to place third. Junior
Lindsay Burbage moved on to the B Finals with a ninth-place finish with a time of 2:06.04. Sophomore
Karinne Everly (2:07.22, 17th) and junior
Diya Ackerman-Vallala (2:08.23, 21st) made their way into the C Finals of the event.
The 50 freestyle saw sophomore
Courtney Tedesco swim into eight with a time of 23.56 to advance to the A Finals of the event. Junior
Beren Cakiroglu finished with a time of 24.08 to place 19th to find a spot in the C Finals.
Finals
The 500 freestyle finals saw Klimesch place ninth with a time of 5:02.64, while Schoenauer finished 10th with a time of 5:03.29. Alexen placed 14th in the event swimming a time of 5:04.44.
Grishaeva secured the silver in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:01.39, marking the second-best time all-time in program history. Burbage earned sixth in the event with the sixth-best mark all-time of 2:05.20.
Tedesco placed 10th in the 50 freestyle finals with a time 23.79, as Cakiroglu swam into 14th with a time of 23.80.
In the relays, the 200 freestyle relay team consisting of Cakiroglu, Ackerman-Vallala, Everly and Tedesco finished fifth with a combined time of 1:34.62. The 400 medley relay team of Grishaeva, Burbage, Everly and Cakiroglu swam a time of 3:44.97 to place fourth.
