Ohio Swim & Dive Places First at the 2025 TYR’ 85 Invite

Ohio Swin & Dive Finishes First at 2025 TYR '85 Invite | Results
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Ohio swim and dive team wrapped up the final day of competition at the 2025 TYR' 85 Invite on Sunday evening (Nov. 23). The Bobcats concluded the three-day event with 2,768 total points, enough to hold off host Liberty, and claim first place at this year's event. 

Liberty finished second with 2,410 points, followed by Campbell in third with 1,427.5 points. 

The Bobcats opened the finals this evening with the 1650 free, with Anna McGrath placing second with a time of 17:04.95, while Katrina Kollin finished fifth in 17:13.19. 

Melanie Schweikert placed third in the 200 back, finishing with a time of 1:58.85. Lily Baumgartner finished fourth (1:50.92), while Juliana Slaninka placed fifth with a time of 2:00.26. 

Zita Szoke placed first in the 100 free, touching in with a time of 47.65, while Juliette Daigneault placed third with a time of 50.12. 

In the 200 breast, Casadie DiBetta picked up the first-place finish, touching in with a time of 2:11.03, while Emily Ellsworth placed fourth in 2:18.09. 

Jana Macik earned a first-place finish in the 200 fly, finishing the race with a time of 1:59.86, while Isabella Arbaugh finished in fifth with a time of 2:03.36. 

Ohio concluded the night with the 4x100 free relay, with the Ohio 'A' team of Szoke, Daigneault, Tori Wittenberg and Jordan Claypoole placed first, finishing the relay with a time of 3:13.38. 

In the platform dive, Alyssa Kiszczak finished third with a score of 197.18. 

Up next, some of the Bobcats will be back in action Dec. 3-6 at the 2025 Toyota US Open in Austin, Texas. The Bobcat divers are back in action Jan. 8-10 at the UB Diving Invite, while the entire Ohio squad is back in action again on Friday, Jan. 16, against Bowling Green. Meet time is set for 5 p.m. at the Ohio University Aquatic Center. It will also be Senior Night. 


UMass Swim & Dive Concludes Competition at Terrier Invite 
BOSTON  – University of Massachusetts swimming and diving concluded its time at the Terrier Invitational on Sunday evening at the FitRec Competition Pool. Both the women's and the men's team placed fourth in the event.

The Minutewomen finished with 761 points, sitting behind Boston University in first with 1,150 points, Northeastern in second with 1,043 points and Bryant in third with 936.50 points. The women's team placed ahead of Fairfield (726.50, fifth), Boston College (716, sixth), Army (66, seventh) and Colgate (29, eighth).

The Minutemen totaled 781.50 points, sitting behind Boston College in first with 1,428 points, Boston University in second with 1,288 points and Fairfield in third with 853.50 points. Bryant (742, fifth), Army (82, sixth) and Colgate (53, seventh) finished behind the men's team.

Preliminaries
Junior Olga Stoura advanced to the C Finals of the 200 backstroke after swimming a time of 2:09.62 to take 17th in the preliminaries. Fellow classmate Beren Cakiroglu placed 12th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.83, while sophomore Courtney Tedesco finished 15th with a time of 52.24 to both earn a spot in the B Finals.

In the 200 breaststroke, sophomore Maria Grishaeva swam a time of 2:16.90, the fifth fastest time in program history, to secure the gold and a spot in the A Finals. Junior Lindsay Burbage joined Grishaeva in the A Finals after placing fifth with a time 2:21.02. Junior Diya Ackerman-Vallala (2:22.84, 11th), freshman Kate Baranova (2:24.92, 14th) and Kendall gilbert (2:25.10, 15th) all moved on to the B Finals.

Sophomore Karinne Everly finished the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:03.05 to take fourth place and head to the A Finals. Sophomore Hannah Schoenauer (2:08.03) and senior Lexi Alexen (2:10.51) finished the event in 11th and 15th, respectively, to earn placement in the B Finals.

Finals
Junior Ece Yildirim placed fourth in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:08.29, marking the seventh fastest time in program history. Freshman Flora Klimesch placed seventh in the event with a time of 17:14.47.

Stoura finished 17th in the 200 backstroke finals with a time of 2:07.34. Cakiroglu tied for 17th in the 100 freestyle relay with a time of 51.47, while Tedesco finished 14th with a time of 51.98.

Grishaeva broke her previous personal-best to move into fourth all-time with a mark of 2:15.15 to garner the gold medal in the 200 breaststroke. Burbage swam a time of 2:21.18 to take seventh place in the event, while Gilbert (2:22.10) and Baranova (2:22.49) finished 11th and 12th, respectively.

Everly grabbed the bronze with a time of 2:02.79 in the 200 butterfly, with Schoenauer placing 12th with a time of 2:06.85.

In the relays, the 400 freestyle relay team of Tedesco, Ackerman-Vallala, Everly and Cakiroglu swam a time of 3:27.44 to finish fourth.
