Bowling Green Falcons
URBANA, Ill. -- BGSU women's tennis player,
Konstantina Adamopoulou, has advanced through the qualifiers and into the main draw of play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Qualifier hosted by the University of Illinois.
The ITA Regional Championships are an opportunity for collegiate tennis players all across the US to compete against one another, both in singles play and doubles play, without affecting their programs' record. These championships allow teams and players to see where they stack up nationally, prior to each teams' conference schedule and the NCAA championships in the spring.
Adamopoulou's day began on Thursday by beating DePaul University's Helin Alvarez 6-3, 6-4. In the second round, Adamopoulou faced off with University of Michigan's fourth seeded Ava Bruno. Adamopoulou stunned the Wolverine with a 6-1, 6-4 victory that would send her into Friday's main draw.
Surprisingly, Adamopoulou wasn't originally scheduled to be in the event in the first place.
Adamopoulou will continue in the main draw on Friday, as she faces Autumn Rabjohns from Northwestern University at 4:00PM. She will join fellow Falcon
Tia Clemens in the main draw, who is scheduled to take on Ellison Reynoldson of the University of Wisconsin-Madison on Friday at 2:30 pm.
