The Scholar Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and/or female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. An institution can nominate up to one male and one female student-athlete per week in any of that current season's sports. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs)

Week’s Achievements (detailed description of week’s events): Red Murdock was named the Defensive Player of the Game at the Bahamas Bowl after a standout performance in Buffalo’s win over Liberty. He had a game-high 13 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, forced two fumbles and an interception. He returned his interception 31 yards for a touchdown to ice the game for the Bulls.

Jenna Batsch averaged 19.0 points per game on 52.2% shooting to lead Kent State to a pair of statement victories as Mid-American Conference play began this past week. Batsch totaled a team-high 15 points and four assists during Wednesday’s conference opener against Bowling Green. The senior guard scored a season-best 23 points and recorded five assists on Sunday as the Golden Flashes knocked Buffalo from the ranks of the unbeaten in a matchup featured on CBS Sports Network.
