Akron redshirt senior Charles Sanders turned in an impressive showing in the 400 meters crossing the line in 47.21 to capture the event at the Akron-Kent State Dual on Friday (Jan. 19). His performance stands as the top time in the MAC this season and the No. 19 effort in the NCAA this year.

Hunter Garretson, Akron, R-Junior
TRACK at NB Collegiate Showdown, PV/1st, 5.42m, 1 MAC/7 NCAA
Akron redshirt junior Hunter Garretson turned in a stellar weekend winning the pole vault at the TRACK at new balance Collegiate Showdown in Boston on Friday (Jan. 19). He bested the field that featured three of the top jumpers in the country this year with a season-best clearance of 17-9.25 (5.42m). The effort stands as the No. 7 mark in the NCAA this season and top-rated performance in the Mid-American Conference.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Paige Marchant, Eastern Michigan, Freshman
Bob Parks Memorial Invitational, 800m/1st, 2:07.90, 1 MAC/19 NCAA
Paige Marchant (London, Ontario/Catholic Central) etched herself into the EMU program top 10 with a 2:07.90 800m at the Bob Parks Memorial Invitational, Jan. 20. Marchant's time ranks as the fastest in the MAC thus far, and sits as the 19th fastest time in the NCAA.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Arianna Calloway, NIU, Freshman
Cyclone Open, HJ/1st, 1.78m, 1 MAC/22 NCAA
NIU freshman Arianna Calloway won her second consecutive title in the high jump to begin her collegiate career. Calloway comfortably bettered the field in the high jump at Iowa State’s Cyclone Open, clearing the bar at 1.78 meters (5-10.00), more than six inches ahead of her teammate Kamiya Dendy who finished second (1.62m, 5-03.75). Calloway cleared 1.78m on her second attempt of the day.
