WOMEN’S AWARDS

Most Outstanding Track Performer

Megan Hipple – Akron

Megan Hipple culminated her indoor campaign with a pair of impressive performances in the 3K

and 5K at the MAC Indoor Championships. She earned her first-ever league title, besting the

field in the women’s 3,000m in a time of 9:18.79 to become the first Zip to win the event in

indoor championship history. A day earlier, she collected All-MAC Second-Team honors for the

first time, finishing second in the 5,000m in 16:03.86.

Hipple owns the No. 1 times in the MAC this season in both the 3,000m (9:14.04) and 5,000m

(15:53.23), establishing school-record performances in both events. She helped lead Akron to

its highest conference team finish since 2022.

Most Outstanding Field Performer

Brook Boes – Akron

Brook Boes was named MAC Most Valuable Performer after capturing conference titles in both

the shot put and weight throw, becoming only the second Zip to sweep the throwing events in

indoor championship history.

She won the weight throw with a personal best of 20.84m (68-4.50), ranking No. 1 in the MAC,

No. 5 in the Great Lakes Region and No. 27 in the NCAA this season. She followed with a

victory in the shot put (15.22m / 49-11.25), securing her second individual title of the meet.

Boes accumulated 20 team points — the highest total of any female athlete at the championship

— and played a pivotal role in leading Akron to its highest conference finish since 2022.

Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year

Michael Schober – Kent State

Michael Schober’s athletes totaled 85 points at the MAC Indoor Championships — a total that

would have placed fourth in the team standings on its own — helping Kent State capture its first

MAC Indoor title since 2014.

His athletes earned two gold medals and two silver medals, including Amryne Chilton’s 200m

championship and Karsyn Spears becoming Kent State’s first 800m champion since 2012. All

four Golden Flashes in the pentathlon scored 3,500+ points, combining for 20 team points.

Schober’s event groups contributed across multiple disciplines, including the triple jump (10

points), long jump (9), 4x400 relay (8), 60m hurdles (4), 400m (4), high jump (4) and 60m (1).

MEN’S AWARDS

Most Outstanding Track Performer

Andrew Styles – Akron

Andrew Styles directed Akron to its second consecutive MAC indoor title and fourth straight

overall championship with victories in the 200m and 400m while anchoring the winning 4x400

relay squad.

He scored a meet-best 22.5 points and was named Championship Most Valuable Performer.

Styles became only the second student-athlete in MAC indoor history to win both the 200m and

400m, and the first since 2017.

He finished the meet with six career MAC championships and posted the No. 1 MAC times this

season in the 400m and 4x400 relay.

Most Outstanding Field Performer

Ayden Bath – Kent State

Ayden Bath contributed 21 team points at the MAC Indoor Championships, capturing his second

heptathlon title with a score of 5,596 — the highest championship total since 2021.

He recorded a personal best of 7.79 in the 60m hurdles during the heptathlon (ranking 61st in

the NCAA this season) and later placed second in the open 60m hurdles (7.95). He concluded

the meet with a fourth-place finish in the high jump (6’

-5”). Bath’s multi-event excellence played a key role in Kent State’s runner-up team finish.

Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year

Randy Overby – Akron

Randy Overby’s sprints/hurdles/relays unit scored 58 points at the MAC Indoor Championships,

guiding Akron to its second consecutive indoor league title.

Andrew Styles was named meet MVP after winning the 200m and 400m and anchoring the

championship 4x400 relay. Overby coached event champions in the 200m, 400m and 4x400

relay, along with multiple podium finishers across the 60m and 60m hurdles.

His athletes posted top-rated MAC times this season in the 200m, 400m and 4x400 relay,

solidifying Akron’s sprint dominance during the 2026 indoor campaign.
