Toledo WXC Picked 28th In National Coaches' Preseason Poll

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's cross country team opens the 2023 season this week as the No. 28 ranked team in the country, according to the Division I Women's Cross Country National Coaches's Poll the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Wednesday.

Head women's coach Andrea Grove-McDonough's team was ranked No. 16 last season when the Rockets finished 12that the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Oct. 14. The program's highest ranking was No. 15 in 2012.

The two-time defending Mid-American Conference Champions, Toledo was picked No. 6 in the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Regional poll. Notre Dame was picked first in the region followed by, Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

The men's and women's cross country teams will begin their 2023 campaign this Friday, Sept. 1 in Norton, Ohio at Akron's 15th Annual Tommy Evans Invitational.
