MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER AND DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK
MAC Men’s Tennis Singles Player of the Week
Peter Kuszynski, Western Michigan – Sophomore, Markham, Ontario, Canada (St. Brother Andre Catholic High School)
Western Michigan sophomore Peter Kuszynski at No. 3 singles against No. 16 Michigan on Saturday, defeated senior Connor Johnston in straight sets (6-4, 7-5). The Ontario native has started his dual season 11-5 overall and has won two consecutive singles matches for the Broncos.

Chris Adams, Ball State – Junior, Port Huron, Mich. (Port Huron Northern High School)
Ball State junior Chris Adams at No. 1 singles went 2-0 in last week. He also played on the No. 1 doubles court as well alongside teammate Vince Orlando. Adams registered a two-set tiebreaker victory over Wright State’s Param Pun Saturday (6-4, 6-7, 13-11) to help the Cardinals to a 7-0 sweep over the Raiders. Adams helped Ball State head coach Bill Richards to his 700th career win Saturday. On Sunday, Adams continued his winning ways with a doubles win on court one and then a singles defeat as well over Eastern Illinois’ Freddie O’Brien. The Cardinals have now won three straight matches and five straight doubles points over their respective opponents.
Vilhelm Fridell, Buffalo – Senior, Gothenburg, Sweden (Procivitas Privata Gymnasium)
Buffalo senior Vilhelm Fridell at No. 1 singles dominated his competition in the lone match this past week. Fridell defeated St. Bonaventure’s Lukas Linden Malmberg, 6-0, 6-0. The victory was the eighth of the season for Fridell.
MAC Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Thawin Suksathaporn, Toledo – Senior, Bangkok, Thailand (Ruamrudee International School)
Luis Kleinshnitz, Toledo – Freshman, Eichenau, Germany (Fachhochschule Furstenfeldbruck)
Toledo senior Thawin Suksathaporn and freshman Luis Kleinschnitz at No. 3 doubles went 2-0 last weekend, notching the Rockets’ only doubles wins over DePaul and Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind. on Saturday. Suksathaporn/Kleinschnitz defeated DePaul’s Fran and Vito Tonejc, 6-3. In the evening session against Purdue, the duo battled with Sebastian Welch/Mateo Julio, winning 7-5.

Parrish Simmons, Ball State – Freshman, Huntsville, Ala. (Home School)
Thibault De Negri, Ball State – Junior, De Haan, Belgium
Ball State freshman Parrish Simmons and junior Thibault De Negri at No. 2 doubles opened last weekend with a 7-6 (9-7) win over Wright State to help clinch the doubles point. Simmons and De Negri helped Ball State to a 7-0 sweep over the Raiders, it also marked head coach Bill Richards 700th career victory. On Sunday, the duo took down Eastern Illinois’ Christos Kyrillou and Daniel Hernandez by a score of 6-3 on court two, helping the Cardinals win the doubles point over their respective opponent for the fifth-straight match in a row. Ball State went on to beat EIU, 6-1.
Simon Wibler, Buffalo – Sophomore, Vaxjo, Sweden (Akademi Bastad)
Hao Sheng Koay, Buffalo – Senior, Kangar, Malaysia (SMK Seri Hartamas)
Buffalo sophomore Simon Wibler and senior Hao Sheng Koay at No. 1 doubles in a dominating 7-0 win against St. Bonaventure, the first doubles team of sophomore Simon Wibler and senior Hao Sheng Koay set the pace as they won 6-2 against Lukas Linden Malmberg and Marco Rivolo.
