EAST LANSING, Mich. – Toledo senior Lucas Britez and junior Poonthong Komolpisut had a strong showing at the ITF World Tour M25 in East Lansing, Mich. this week, as both advanced to the main singles event after picking up wins in the singles qualifying draw.

Five total Rockets competed in the draw, including Hanamichi Carvajal, Alejandro Gonzalez and Matias Olivero, in addition to Britez and Komolpisut. Each student-athlete competed as an individual and represented their home country.

Britez defeated Andrei Caragea from Canada, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 10-8, and Jonas Keck from Germany 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the main singles draw.

Komolpisut earned straight-set victories over Israel's Ben Chetewy Ungar and Guadalupe's Oscar Lacides en route to reaching the main draw.

In the main draw, Komolpisut competed in a three-set match against Jeremy Zhang before falling while Britez dropped a straight-set contest to Adhithya Ganesan.

In doubles competition, Britez teamed up with Alejandro Gonzalez and went to a three-set contest against Vuk Radjenovic and Mitchell Sheldon. Komolpisut combined with Hanamichi Carvajal to take Alex Koblet and Taras Motsnyy to a tiebreak.
