LYNCHBURG, Va. – The RedHawks downed the No. 15 Liberty Flames on the road Saturday, scoring three goals in the fourth quarter to complete a comeback and send the game to overtime, where they won 5-4. Malena Sabez recorded a hat trick during the game, including the game-winning goal in overtime. The RedHawks improve to 4-3 with the win while Liberty falls to 4-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Miami generated three early penalty corners in the first quarter but could not score.
• Liberty took a 1-0 lead halfway through the first, scoring unassisted to break the tie.
• Just one minute later, Liberty scored again, picking off an attempted clear by Miami to make it 2-0.
• Early in the second, Judit Garcia Gregory set up Toto Scarlatti for her second score of the season, bringing the RedHawks within one goal, 2-1.
• The Flames answered with their third goal of the day, putting a shot in the top left corner of the net to make it 3-1.
• Miami generated two penalty corners at the end of the half but could not capitalize.
• Liberty defended five Miami corner opportunities in the third quarter.
• With eight minutes to play Sabez struck back, scoring on a penalty corner with assists by Kylie Coughlin on the insert and Julia Fernandez on the set.
• 90 seconds later, Toto Scarlatti scored again with a reverse-stick shot from the left side, tying the game 3-3 with less than seven minutes in regulation.
• Liberty answered quickly, charging down the field for a quick tip-in from the right post to reclaim the lead, 4-3.
• After an unsuccessful corner with four minutes to go, Miami generated a second corner opportunity and Maxi Aguirregomezcorta set up Sabez for her second score of the day to make it 4-4 and send the game into overtime.
• Sabez opened overtime by completing a hat trick. She scored her third goal of the game off another assist by Aguirregomezcorta to end the sudden death overtime period and give the RedHawks a 5-4 comeback victory. 

• Sabez took eight shots and finished with three goals.
• Scarlatti took two shots and finished with two goals.
• Aguirregomezcorta had two assists.
• Nicky Sjouken made five saves.
• The RedHawks outshot the Flames 24-13.
• Miami had 13 shots on goal compared to nine for the Flames.
• Miami generated 14 corners and held Liberty to two.
