Big Seventh Inning Helps Chippewas Secure 7-3 Tournament Win

AKRON, Ohio — Central Michigan (25–23) defeated Miami (38–18) with a final score of 7–3 in a neutral-site matchup at Firestone Stadium. Central Michigan secured the victory with a decisive seventh inning, scoring four runs to break open a close game. Brooklyn Compau pitched a complete game, allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out four.

London Williams stood out for Central Michigan with a strong performance, recording two hits, including a home run, and driving in two runs. Her ability to score twice and draw two walks also contributed significantly to the team's effort. Cierra Laska also made an impact by driving in two runs with a double, showcasing her plate discipline with two walks. Compau was instrumental in securing the win, pitching a complete game over seven innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out four.

Evey Dieudonne showcased her power at the plate for Miami, driving in two runs and hitting a home run. Danitza Hernandez contributed significantly by scoring twice, stealing a base, and drawing a walk. 

With this victory, Central Michigan moves on to play the lower seed of the losing teams in Games 4 and 5 of the 2026 MAC Softball Tournament. Their matchup will be tomorrow at approximately 5:30 PM ET.
