Buffalo Claims Regular Season Title, Number One Seed with Win at Toledo | Box Score 
TOLEDO, Ohio – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team (14-6, 8-2 MAC) closed the regular season in dramatic fashion, defeating Toledo 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Bulls clinched a share of the Mid-American Conference regular season championship for the second straight year and the number one seed in next week's MAC Championship.  

Trailing 1-0 after doubles action, the Bulls mounted a comeback as Faiz Nasyam cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at six singles before Minjae Kim overcame a dropped first set to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 at fourth singles and Emiliano Jorquera rallied to a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory at fifth singles to put UB up 3-1, before graduate student Clement Mainguy clinched the match for UB with a three-set thriller, winning 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 at third singles. Junior Onder Balci rounded out the scoring for UB with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win at the second position.

"This is quite an accomplishment for our team," said head coach Lee Nickell. "We have played the whole season with a target on our back. We have handled the challenges like champions and Coach Tony and I are incredibly proud. We now set our sites on the MAC Championship next weekend. It is a brand new season and we will be ready."

Up next, Buffalo will serve as the host for the MAC Men's Tennis Championship. The Bulls will be the top seed and face either Ball State or Northern Illinois in the first semifinal match at 10am on Saturday, April 18. Western Michigan Wins 30th MAC Regular Season Championship After Win at UIC | Box Score 
CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team won the program's 30th Mid-American Conference Regular Season Championship after defeating UIC, 5-2, on the road on Saturday afternoon. 

The Broncos (15-9, 8-2 MAC) put the pressure on early after winning the doubles point. Jack Davison and Ashton Adesoro earned a quick 6-0 win over Youssef Hamad and Mihailo Savic at No. 3. The Flames responded shortly after when Artem Alekseychuk and Victor Dorojan picked up a 6-1 win at No. 2 over Oscar Corwin and Alex AntonopoulosTim Riedel and Drew Evans secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Eldin Nokic and Henrique Sa at No. 1.

Davison pushed the lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 over Dorojan to open singles. UIC rattled off two straight points to tie it up at 2-2 with wins by Alekseychuk at No. 2 and Simon Knezevic at No. 4. Sophomore Oscar Corwin gave the lead back to Western Michigan with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 over Savic. 

The match-winning point was clinched by Riedel at No. 5. The graduate student beat Emil Dapcevic 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. Adesoro then finished up his three-set win 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 over Nokic to set the final score. 

Western Michigan finishes the regular season tied with Buffalo. The co-MAC Championship Bulls hold the tie-breaker over the Broncos due to the total points scored in the two matches between the teams, 9-5. 

WMU now heads to Buffalo for the 2026 MAC Tournament Championships. The Broncos will play in the second semifinal match on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Northern Illinois. The Bulls will play fourth-seeded Ball State on Saturday at 10 a.m. The MAC Tournament Championship Match is scheduled for next Sunday at 1 p.m. 


Northern Illinois Records Senior Day Win Over Ball State | Box Score 
ROCHELLE, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team landed a 4-1 victory over Ball State on Saturday afternoon. Seniors Iker Gaztambide ArrastiaFederico Scotuzzi and Iker Dellien Velasco were honored prior to the match.

The Huskies (17-7, 7-3 MAC) closed out the regular season winning two of its last three and will compete in the Mid-American Conference Tournament next weekend. The win over the Cardinals splits the season series, avenging a 4-3 loss in March.

"Our team performance was Senior Day worthy. Co-Captains Arrastia and Scotuzzi led the way in the doubles," said head coach René Vidal. "Overall, we were mentally tough in difficult weather conditions and look forward to meeting the moment next week in Buffalo."

NIU claimed the doubles point to open the match, the sixth time in the last seven outings. At No. 1, Gaztambide Arrastia / Scotuzzi locked in a 6-2 victory, followed by a 6-4 victory at No. 2 from Nikola Puntaric / Lorenzo Leti Messina.

The Huskies jumped on Ball State early in singles play with No. 63 Gaztambide Arrastia (Pamplona, Spain / Jesuitas) and Puntaric (Ljubljana, Slovenia / Tulsa) each claiming 6-1, 6-1 victories.

Ball State answered with a win at No. 6 to get on the board, but Leti Messina (Rome, Italy / North Florida) clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jeremy Milette.

The final two matches were unfinished due to the weather.

NIU caps its regular season with 12 home wins, the most in a single season since 2021 (13) and fourth most since 2005.

The Huskies will face Western Michigan in the MAC Tournament on Saturday, April 18, at 1 p.m. CT. The teams split the season series this spring.
