Four MAC Wrestling Teams Earn 2026 NCAA Team Scholar All-America Award

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced the NCAA Division I Men's Team Scholar All-American Awards, with four Mid-American Conference Teams showcasing a strong commitment to both academic and athletic excellence this season.

Ohio - 3.42 - The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Team Scholar All-America Awards. Ohio claimed the 22nd spot in this year's rankings, with a team GPA of 3.43. A record number of teams had a GPA over 3.0 this season.

In addition to these team honors, the NWCA recently announced the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-America individual award winners, where Ohio had six scholar All-Americans:

Sal Perrine, Grad., Business Administration, 3.73
Garrett Thompson, Grad., Business Administration, 3.732

Buffalo - 3.42 - For just the third time in program history, the University at Buffalo wrestling team earned the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Team Scholar All-America Award, ranking in the top 30 academically among all Division I programs.

The Bulls posted a program-best 3.42 grade point average to rank 24th in the nation. The NWCA recognizes the Top 30 programs.

Seven members of the team were named Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), announced last week. It was the most in program history, surpassing the previous record of four.

Redshirt-Freshman Zachary Belverio, redshirt-senior Kaleb Burgess, redshirt-sophomore Connor Jacobs, redshirt-sophomore Rafael Knapp, redshirt-junior Kelin Laffey, graduate Marcus Petite and freshman Tyler Roark were all honored.
