CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Ohio swim and dive program opened the 2026-27 season on Friday (Oct. 2) with a tri-meet against North Florida and Miami. The Bobcats defeated North Florida, 221.00-72.00 and fell to Miami,193.00-106.00.
The Bobcats opened the event with the 200-medley relay, where the team of senior
Melanie Schweikert, freshman
Molly Gonzalez, sophomore
Jana Macik and senior
Katie Buroker placed third with a time of 1:46.93.
In the 1,000 free, freshman
Josie Marino placed fourth with a time of 10:25.64.
In the 200 free, junior
Ashlyn Morr placed fourth in 1:52.76, followed by sophomore
Katrina Kollin in fifth (1:53.53) and junior
Juliana Slaninka in sixth (1:55.26).
Freeman placed fourth in the 100 back, touching in with a time of 57.16, while sophomore
Lily Baumgartner finished fifth (57.47) and Schweikert placed sixth with a time of 57.88.
Junior
Juliette Daigneault capped off the 100-yard breaststroke with a third-place finish and a time of 1:04.78. Gonzalez finished fifth with a time of 1:07.47, while senior
Katie Forbes finished sixth in 1:07.52.
In the 200 fly, Macik placed third with a time of 2:04.05.
The Bobcats took the top two spots in the 50 free, with senior
Zita Szoke placing first in 22.92, followed by sophomore
Tori Wittenberg in second with a time 23.93.
In the 100 free, Daigneault placed second with a time of 51.90, followed by Buroker in third (52.10) and Morr in fourth (52.29). Then in the 200 back, Baumgartner placed second, touching in with a time of 2:01.43. Freeman picked up a third-place finish in the event with a time of 2:02.58, while Slaninka finished in fourth (2:02.68).
Gonzalez finished third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:23.37, while sophomore
Reese Benton finished fifth with a time of 2:26.14. Marino placed third in the 500 free, touching in with a time of 5:02.79.
Szoke was back in action in the 100 fly, placing first with a time of 54.40, while junior
Jordan Claypoole finished third in 56.32.
In the 200 IM, Daigneault picked up a third-place finish, recording a time of 2:06.34.
The final event of the evening was the 400 free relay, where the Bobcats' 'A' team of Szoke, Buroker, Morr and Daigneault finished first with a time of 3:26.51.
In diving, senior
Astrid Pichardo opened her season on fire, securing NCAA Zone cuts in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Pichardo placed third in both, scoring 278.63 in the 1-meter and 315.90 in the 3-meter. Freshman
Maggie Strange placed fourth in the 1-meter with a score of 267.30, also securing her NCAA Zone Cut. Strange also earned a fourth-place finish in the 3-meter dive, earning a score of 240.08.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Ohio swim and dive teams concluded its opening weekend on Saturday (Oct. 3), competing against Miami and North Florida for the second straight day. Today's events and relays were not scored.
In the 50 back, freshman
Nora Kunsman placed second with a time of 26.62, while freshman
Gabrielle Freeman placed fourth with a time of 26.92.
Senior
Zita Szoke won the 50 fly, touching in with a time of 23.98, while junior
Jordan Claypoole placed third with a time of 25.38.
Junior
Ashlyn Morr finished the 50 free in second place with a time of 23.73, followed by freshman
Anna Gregg who placed third with a time of 23.79.
Freshman
Josie Marino concluded the 400 IM in fourth place, finishing with a time 4:27.74.
In the 200 free, senior
Katie Buroker placed third, touching in with a time of 1:52.36.
Szoke was back in action in the 100 IM, placing first with a time of 55.05, while sophomore
Juliette Daigneault finished fourth in 58.42.
In the 200-backstroke relay, Ohio placed second with a time of 1:45.62. Then in the 200-breaststroke relay, Ohio came in third place, finishing with a time of 2:03.29.
Ohio placed second in the 200-butterfly relay, finishing with a time of 1:44.85. In the final relay of the day, the 200 free, Ohio won the event, finishing the race with a time of 1:35.06.
Up next, Ohio is back in Athens on Saturday, Oct. 10 for the annual Green and White Scrimmage. The event is set to being at 11 a.m. ET at the Ohio University Aquatic Center.
