- An early strike from Simone Sharpless was enough for the Broncos on Sunday as they earned a victory on Cancer Awareness Day at the WMU Soccer Complex. The Broncos move to 4-1-1 in the MAC and 6-3-4 overall.

FIRST HALF
The Broncos wasted no time asserting themselves on Sunday as Meredith Vance intercepted a Buffalo pass, finding Simone Sharpless wide open where she put it in the back of the net for a 1-0 Broncos lead just 67 seconds into the contest.

From there, the Broncos dominated possession.  In the 23rd minute Bronco fans almost received deja-vu as Camryn Huhn intercepted a pass of her own and sent it to Kaiya Stewart whos shot went just over the net. The possession dominance continued as by the 27th minute the Broncos were already on their 5th corner kick of the game.

The Bronco defense remained unrelenting against the Bulls as they wouldn't record a shot on goal in the first half, and only one total shot coming in the 31st minute. WMU continued to push on offense, but as the half concluded the lead remained 1-0.

SECOND HALF
The Bulls came out strong in the second half, flipping the script on the Broncos and controlling possession for a majority of the first minutes. The Brown and Gold responded with a 53rd minute corner attempt leading directly into a Camryn Huhn shot that was just saved by the Buffalo goaltender.

The Bulls continued to push hard on offense. As the 63rd minute came along, the Bulls found a lane to the net forcing a one on one opportunity for Reagan Sulaver who would make a phenomenal save. Sulaver wasn't done just yet as the rebound deflected right back to Buffalo where Reagan got right back up to make another great save.

From there the Broncos returned to their game, putting Buffalo on their backfoot for the remainder of the contest. The Brown and Gold would recieve a few more looks from Camryn Huhn but the early goal was enough as Western Michigan closed the game with a 1-0 victory.

Later in the half, sophomore midfielder Maya Justice capitalized on a great ball from Allison Burkey in transition to put the ball in the back of the net for her second goal of the year to give the Flashes a 2-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

The blue and gold kept their foot on the gas in the second half as Simon scored again in the 54th-minute right in front of the net to finish the day with her second two-goal day in just two and a half weeks.

Twenty minutes later, the Golden Flashes scored in what would be their final goal of the game as Kiyomi McCausland fired a shot from distance from the left side of the field that went in the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
