AKRON, Ohio - The Ball State soccer team earned a season-high three goals in Sunday afternoon's 3-0 victory at Akron. Three different Cardinals booted the ball into the back of the net for the most goals scored by the team since playing Akron on Oct. 12, 2025.
Anna Kate Robillard started the scoring in the 41st minute off a feed from LG Moncrief to give the Cardinals (4-5-3, 1-2-2 Mid-American Conference) a 1-0 edge.
Audrey Goodyear joined Robillard in scoring her first goal of her career in the 80th minute off another dish by Moncrief. In the 89th minute, Kaelyn Valleau capitalized for the Cardinals' offense off an Annika Klauss assist to end the day over the Zips (6-5-1, 2-2-1 MAC).
For the day, Ball State took 13 shots (7 on goal) compared to five for Akron (two on goal). The Cardinals earned more corner kicks (4-3) than the Zips and were whistled for more fouls (9-8).

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team went on the road and picked up a key Mid-American Conference win Sunday afternoon (Oct. 4). Freshman Olivia McCuen scored midway through the second half to lift the Falcons to a 1-0 win over Western Michigan University at the WMU Soccer Complex.
In a rematch of the 2025 MAC Tournament final, junior Payton O'Malley tied her career high with seven saves en route to a clean sheet. For the Falcons (6-1-4, 2-0-3 MAC), Sunday's win marked the seventh shutout in 11 matches this season.
Sunday's match also marked the first time the Broncos (5-3-4, 3-1-1 MAC) have been shut out by a MAC team at home in nearly four years (since Oct. 6, 2022).
McCuen's goal came with just over 20 minutes remaining in the match. The Falcons won the ball after a Bronco throw-in near the WMU bench, with freshman Mia Ugarte running on to a forward pass on the right side of the pitch, near the BG bench.
Ugarte centered the ball into space, as McCuen and a Bronco defender were steaming down the center of the field. McCuen picked up the ball, and her first shot attempt was smothered by the defender as WMU goalkeeper Reagan Sulaver came off of her line and went to the ground in an effort to block that shot.
McCuen picked up the rebound, took a touch to her left, and fired the ball into the vacated net for what proved to be the only goal the Falcons would need.
Three of O'Malley's seven saves came in the final 12 minutes of the match, and none of the three were easy stops. She denied Kaiya Stewart with a diving save in the 79th minute of action, then stopped a hard shot by Tessa Fagerson just over a minute later. The junior's final stop was another diving effort on Meredith Vance on a shot through traffic with under eight minutes to go.
Sulaver made one save on Sunday afternoon.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer team defeated Kent State University, 2-1, at Scicluna Field Sunday, Oct. 4, with both goals coming from substitutes as the Eagles secured their fourth consecutive MAC win and remained unbeaten in conference play.
Eastern Michigan entered the match riding a five-game shutout streak — the longest in the program's history — and carried a 1-0 lead into halftime before extending it to 2-0 in the second half. A late Kent State penalty kick in the 85th minute ended the historic run and set up a tense finish, but the Eagles held on to improve to 6-1-4 overall and 4-0-1 in MAC play.
How It Happened
Annalyse Bauer (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) entered the match in the 12th minute and wasted little time making her presence felt. In the 41st minute, Bauer finished off a combination from Christie Fransen (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster/Bowling Green) to give Eastern Michigan a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
The Eagles doubled their advantage in the 62nd minute when Ella Miller (Mount Morris, Pa./Morgantown) converted her only shot of the match into a goal, assisted by Avery Hilvert (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) and Madison Hurst (Wexford, Pa./Allison Park, Pa./Robert Morris). The goal proved to be the game-winner.
Hurst nearly added a third in the 86th minute, but her shot struck the top crossbar and stayed out.
Kent State pulled one back in the 85th minute when the Golden Flashes converted a penalty kick to make it 2-1, ending EMU's program-record five-game shutout streak and setting up a tense final five minutes. Ella Holland (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody/Samford) made three saves across the 90 minutes to secure the victory for the Green and White.
