BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Austyn Dendy rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns as Bowling Green scored 38 straight points to beat Sacramento State Hornets 38-10 on Saturday.

The Falcons (2-4, 2-0 MAC) are off to their first 2-0 start in MAC play since 2015 and have won back-to-back games for the first time under coach Eddie George.

Sacramento State (1-5, 0-3 MAC) took a 3-0 lead before Dendy capped a nine-play drive, all of which were runs, with a 1-yard touchdown in the second quarter. He carried seven times on the drive.

Jay Kastantin connected with Joseph Saffold for a 9-yard touchdown with 4 seconds left in the half to give Bowling Green a 17-3 lead.

Dendy added a 30-yard touchdown run in the third quarter before Kastantin scored on a 7-yard run early in the fourth.

Bowling Green extended the lead to 38-3 when Dorian Pringle forced a Raiden Brown fumble and D’kyah Banks returned it 27 yards for a touchdown.

The Falcons rushed for 218 yards and three touchdowns. Kastantin threw for 116 yards and a score and added 50 yards rushing.

Jackson Sharman threw for 145 yards and a touchdown for Sacramento State.
 


Eastern Michigan 25, Akron 23

Akron, Ohio - Rudy Kessinger made four field goals, including a 48-yarder with 1:50 remaining, and Noah Kim threw for 277 yards and a touchdown as Eastern Michigan Eagles rallied past Akron 25-23 on Saturday.

The Eagles (4-3, 3-0 MAC) trailed 17-13 in the third quarter before scoring 12 of the game’s final 18 points.

Kessinger made field goals of 22, 23 and 33 yards before Kim connected with Harold Mack for a 6-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter to give Eastern Michigan a 22-17 lead.

Akron (1-5, 0-2 MAC) answered when Brayden Roggow connected with Marquese Williams for a 27-yard touchdown with 6:27 remaining. The 2-point conversion failed, leaving the Zips ahead 23-22.

Kessinger then capped an 11-play, 42-yard drive with the winning 48-yard field goal.

Kim completed 26 of 46 passes with one interception. Joshua Long caught nine passes for 114 yards for the Eagles, and Joey Mattord rushed for 73 yards.

Roggow threw three touchdown passes for Akron, including scores of 15 and 40 yards to Marcel Williams, who finished with five catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns, while Jordan Gant rushed for 117 yards.



Buffalo 23, Toledo 8

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Messiah Burch broke loose on an 87-yard touchdown run with 4:30 remaining to help Buffalo Bulls pull away and beat Toledo 23-8 on Saturday.

Connor Walendzak's 1-yard touchdown run capped a 14-play, 86-yard drive that pulled Toledo to 16-8 with 4:45 remaining. Burch answered on the first play from scrimmage on the next series.

Burch finished with 137 yards rushing on 17 carries. Jason Wright had a short-yardage touchdown run for Buffalo (3-3, 1-1 Mid-American Conference). Oliver Hautanen made field goals from 24, 29 and 31 yards for the Bulls.

John Alan Richter was 22-of-35 passing for 203 yards for Toledo (4-2, 1-1). Walendzak added 50 yards rushing on 10 carries.

The Rockets put up 304 yards of offense compared to Buffalo's 351, but were 3 of 14 on third-down conversions, committed three turnovers and were penalized 15 times for 137 yards.



Western Michigan 38, Kent State 7

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Broc Lowry threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns and Western Michigan Broncos continued its mastery over Kent State Golden Flashes with a 38-7 win on Saturday.

Lowry threw a 42-yard touchdown to Adam Parks on the game's first drive. Lowry then ended a 10-play, 75-yard drive four seconds into the second quarter with a 2-yard touchdown run.
The Golden Flashes got on the board when Dru DeShields threw a 20-yard touchdown to Brendyn Smith with 1:55 left before halftime.

Western Michigan (4-2, 2-0 MAC) countered with a 10-play, 73-yard scoring drive in just 1:16. Lowry found Baylin Brooks for a 28-yard touchdown pass with 33 seconds before intermission and a 21-7 lead.

Jalen Buckley ran for 105 yards and 16 carries for the Broncos.

DeShields threw for 223 yards, a touchdown and an interception for Kent State (2-4, 1-2 MAC). Wayne Harris amassed 164 yards receiving on 11 receptions.

The Broncos entered having won each of the last four games in the series, averaging 50.25 points per game.



Ohio 31, Central Michigan 14

ATHENS, Ohio - Nick Poulos threw three first-half touchdown passes and Ohio extended the nation's second longest current home winning streak to 16 with a 31-14 victory over Central Michigan Chippewas on a rainy Saturday.

Defending champion Indiana's 19-game run at home is the only streak longer than the Bobcats'.

Duncan Brune broke through for a 23-yard touchdown on a third-and-3 run and Ohio (4-2, 2-0 MAC) took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Brune rushed four times for 47 of the 62 yards on the drive and finished with 91 yards on 16 carries.

Central Michigan turned it over on downs at the Bobcats' 35-yard line, and Riley Neer caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from Poulos eight plays later for a 14-0 advantage.

Will Hryszko kicked a short field goal early in the second quarter, and Poulos followed with touchdown passes covering 1 yard to Preston Bowman and 44 yards to Dom Dorwart for a 31-0 lead at halftime.

Central Michigan was held to 78 yards of offense in the first half, including 19 rushes for 19 yards.

Jayden Clerveaux scored on a 15-yard run for the Chippewas in the third quarter and Nick Woodford added a 20-yard touchdown run in the fourth.

Angel Flores completed 14 of 20 passes for 112 yards for Central Michigan (3-3, 1-1 MAC).

The Bobcats have posted back-to-back victories over the Chippewas, who lead the all-time series 27-8-2.


Miami 20, UMass 19

AMHERST, Mass. -- Caleb Heavner and Scoop Smith each ran for touchdowns and Miami (Ohio) held on to beat UMass 20-19 in a contest that went down to the last offensive play of the game on Saturday.

The Redhawks (3-3, 1-1 MAC) led 20-13 with 2:21 left to play. UMass (4-2, 1-2 MAC) took the possession and went on a nine-play, 70-yard drive that ended when backup quarterback Logan Inagawa threw a 21-yard touchdown to Max Dowling with a second left in regulation.

Opting to play for the win, the Minutemen’s Reece Adkins was stopped by Miami’s Malcolm McClain on the two-point conversion attempt.

Heavener’s 7-yard touchdown run with 1:11 left in the first quarter ended a 7-all tie and the Redhawks led the rest of the way.

Heavener struggled from pocket completing just 6-of-20 passed for 95 yards but ran for 54 yards on 11 carries and the touchdown.

Aedan McCarty threw for 171 yards for UMass before being replaced by Inagawa, who went 6-for-6 passing for 83 yards.

The RedHawks have a 6-1 advantage in the 14-year-old series.
