MAC Gymnast of the Week
Ashley Morgan, Junior, Kent State
Roswell, Ga. (Roswell)
Junior Ashley Morgan was pivotal for the Golden Flashes win versus West Virginia and Fisk with her scores that counted towards the final scores. Morgan’s scores of 9.800 were good for 2nd-highest on beam and 3rd-highest on floor en route to the tri-meet win at the MAC Center.
MAC Co-Specialist of the Week
Ashley Szymanski, Junior, Ball State
Fort Wayne, Ind. (Bishop Dwenger)
Junior Ashley Szymanski earned a pair of event wins in Ball State’s dual victory over Bowling Green, taking top honors on both beam (9.875) and bars (9.775). Szymanski’s beam routine not only tied a career high, but was also the highest scoring beam routine in the MAC last week. It is also the second-highest beam score in the league this season, trailing only Zoe Middleton’s mark of 9.900 in BSU’s season-opener. In addition, her bars score was the sixth best in the MAC last week and gave Szymanski her 14th career event win on bars.
MAC Co-Specialist of the Week
Alanah Wallace, Freshman, Northern Illinois
Frisco, Tex. (Frisco)
Alanah Wallace had a standout performance in only her second college meet, earning a 9.800 score on both vault and floor. Wallace tied for first on floor in the Golden Girls Classic against Eastern Michigan and SUNY Brockport and placed second on vault. One of seven gymnasts in MAC this weekend to score at least a 9.800 on two separate events and only freshman to do so.
