MAC Announces Week 6 Women's Soccer Players of the Week

Offensive Player of the Week
Avery Peters, Western Michigan, Midfielder
Graduated Student, Mason, Mich. (Mason)

Avery Peters continued to produce on offense, scoring a league-leading two goals on three shots on goal. Her score on Thursday helped WMU tie the match in the second half against Miami. The Broncos would go on to win the game. She followed that up with a goal on Sunday against Bowling Green to help the Brown and Gold reach 25 games without a loss in MAC play. She also moved to three straight games with a goal. On the season, Peters has eight points on three goals and two assists.

Defensive Player of the Week
Kelsey Salopek, Kent State, Defender
Senior, Munhall, Pa. (Steel Valley)

Kelsey Salopek scored the only goal in Kent State’s 1-0 conference win over Ball State and played stifling defense as the Cardinals pushed aggressively late. It is also her second goal in consecutive games.

Goalkeeper of the Week
Ella Holland, Eastern Michigan, Goalkeeper
Redshirt Sophomore, Dunwoody, Ga. (Dunwoody)

Ella Holland played a pivotal role in helping Eastern Michigan get off to a 2-0-0 start in the MAC play, the best start of any school in the conference and EMU's first time winning its first two MAC matches since 2014. Holland, who kept a pair of clean sheets, was particularly impressive against Buffalo, Sept. 18, making eight saves for the fourth time in her career. She also made a trio of saves against Toledo, Sept. 21, including a stop in the waning seconds of the contest. Holland, who now has 13 shutouts in her career, helped EMU post consecutive clean sheets to open MAC play for the first time since 2013.
