MAC Announces Week 5 Women's Soccer Players of the Week

Offensive Player of the Week
Emma Stransky, Bowling Green, Forward
Sophomore, Copley, Ohio (Copley)

Emma Stransky scored both BGSU goals as the Falcons topped Kent State, 2-1, on Sunday.

Stransky's first goal came on a header in the 36th minute, and after the Flashes tied the game early in the second half, the junior slotted a ball into the right side of the net with just under an hour gone for the eventual winning goal. The brace was the first of her career.

Stransky now has BG-best totals of five goals and 10 points this season. She ranks second in the MAC in both categories, and is tied for the league lead with two game-winning goals. Stransky has 12 goals and 29 points in her career, and with seven GWG, has moved into BGSU's career top-10 in the latter category.

Defensive Player of the Week
Meredith Vance, Western Michigan, Midfielder
Sophomore, Grand Rapids, Mich. (Forest Hills Northern)

Western Michigan sophomore Meredith Vance helped the Broncos pick up a fourth straight win, scoring a goal against DePaul on Sunday afternoon. The goal was the first of her career and put the game out of reach in the second half. Defensively, Vance played the full 90 minutes, limiting DePaul to just two shots on goal. The shutout was WMU's second of the season.

Goalkeeper of the Week
Celeste Sloma, Ohio, Goalkeeper
Goalkeeper, Columbus, Ohio (Worthington Kilbourne)

Celeste Sloma had a shutout victory in Ohio's match against Central Michigan. Sloma faced eight shots, making six saves while not allowing a goal in her 90 minutes of play. Facing shots from all angles, Sloma was able to keep the ball out of the back of the net, helping Ohio get its first MAC victory.
