AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron women's soccer team got a multi-goal performance from freshman Addison Hall (Manchester, Conn.) in a 5-3 victory over Southern Indiana on Sunday (Aug. 24) at FirstEnergy Stadium.

How it Happened

Akron took a 1-0 lead when Hall scored her first collegiate goal in the 15th minute (14:15) assisted by junior Jordanne Oberhaus (Wadsworth, Ohio).

The Screaming Eagles responded to make it a 1-1 game on a goal from Eva Boer at the 19:35 mark, assisted by Josie Pochocki.

Akron went up 2-1 on freshman Fineen Cregan's (Rochester, N.Y.) first collegiate tally in the 31st-minute (30:23) on a successful penalty kick.

The Screaming Eagles fired back to knot it up at 2-2 with a goal from Tierney Mullady, assisted by Grace Bamber at the 31:53 mark.

Akron broke the tie and took a 3-2 lead on senior Kylie Schiemann's (Geneva, Ohio) first goal of the season in the 37th minute, assisted by Cregan.

Southern Indiana leveled the match at 3-3 thanks to a 52nd-minute (51:51) goal from Peyton Murphy.

Senior Emma King (Akron, Ohio) netted what proved to be the game-winning goal, her first of the year, in the 62nd minute (61:39), assisted by Hall.

The Zips increased their lead to 5-3 thanks to an goal from Hall at the 80:51 mark, her second goal of the season. King and Cregan assisted the goal. The score was the last of the game.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Seniors Addie Chester, Tori Monaco and Emily Roper put on a scoring clinic as the Ball State soccer team enjoyed a 4-0 win over Eastern Illinois, giving first-year head coach Andy Stoots his first win with the program.

The Cardinals (1-2) brought a barrage late in the second half against the Panthers (1-3) with two goals in the 81st and 85th minutes by Roper and Chester. 20 minutes earlier in the contest, Monaco scored one high left in the 65th minute off a corner kick assist from freshman Jess Fernau.

Including Chester's first goal 25 minutes into the match, all three seniors moved up to the No. 14 spot in the Ball State record book with 12 career goals.

Graduate goalkeeper Abby Jenkins gave Eastern Illinois a fight in the box, capturing two saves during the first 45 minutes. Sophomore Kate Pallante matched Jenkins with two saves of her own in the second half.

For the second-straight contest, redshirt sophomore defender Delaney Ahearn played a full 90 minutes. Junior defender Audrey Goodyear also stayed in up until the 90-minute mark.

The Cardinals bested Eastern Illinois in corners (9-3) and shots (10-4), while the Panthers led in saves (6-4).

The Toledo women's soccer team got a second-half goal from senior Kaema Amachree to push past Oakland, 1-0 on Senior Day in the Rockets' 2025 home opener at Paul Hotmer Field on Sunday.
 
The Rockets' (1-1-1) goal capped off a dominant second half in which Toledo out-shot the Golden Grizzlies (1-2-1) 8-3 and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. For the match, Toledo led 11-4 in shots and 8-1 in corners.
 
Toledo won its home opener for the first time since 2021. The Rockets have won back-to-back 1-0 decisions against Oakland and have won three-straight against the Horizon League overall.b

AMHERST, Mass. – Sophomore forward Morgan Bellamy scored the game-winning goal to give the University of Massachusetts women's soccer team a 2-1 victory at Rudd Field on Sunday afternoon. Fellow classmate Amelia Bloom earned her first career multi-point game, along with her first career goal on the day.

Freshman Aline Traber registered her first career assist, as well.

The Minutewomen improve to 2-1-0 overall, including 2-0 at Rudd Field, while the Crimson fall to 0-1-0 on the year.

Harvard got on the board first in the 39th minute to lead, 1-0. A foul drawn in the box gave the Crimson a penalty kick that was converted by Audrey Francois. UMass had a few more chances to equalize, but the first half ended with Harvard ahead.

The Minutewomen recorded the game-tying goal quick in the second half, as Bloom notched her first career goal. Traber dribbled the ball around a Harvard defender in the 18-yard box, before passing it around to the middle of the box to Bloom. Bloom kicked the ball towards the net, sailing it past the goalkeeper at the 47:13 mark.

Bellamy made it a 2-1 game, putting UMass on top, in the 59th minute. A Massachusetts corner taken by Bloom was headed down by Bellamy. Bellamy, then got a foot on the ball as it bounced in front of the goalkeeper to find the back of the net. The Crimson tallied two quick shots in the final seconds with one saved and one cleared by Peyton Costello off the line to maintain the Minutewomen's triumph.  

Harvard outshot Massachusetts, 19-9, including 7-5 on goal. The Crimson also had the advantage in corners, 14-4, over the Minutewomen. Bloom, Traber and Caroline Dickson all had two shots each, while three other Minutewomen took a shot.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Leah Nisenfeld stopped six shots on the afternoon and allowed one goal through 90 minutes in net. Rhiannon Stewart of Harvard made three saves and let in two goals throughout the entire match.
