GENEVA, Ohio – Over the weekend, the Bald Eagles sent wrestlers through the Mat-Town USA Wrestling Club to the U23 and U20 Team Trials in Geneva, Ohio at the Spire Academy.
The World Team Trials process is open to all athletes eligible to represent the United States of America at the World Championships as governed by United World Wrestling (UWW) and USA Wrestling (USAW) rules.
Anthony Noto placed third at the U23 World Team Trials with a 10-0 tech fall (1:43) victory over Evan Tallmadge (Pittsburgh) in the consolation semifinals. The victory made the Lock Haven great a three-time freestyle All-American.
Noto started the afternoon with four consecutive victories, including a pair of tech falls, before falling in his first match in the semifinals. Noto bounced back in the consolation semifinals with the tech fall win to secure his third freestyle All-American honor.
Noto racked up five victories at the event.
Tucker Hogan placed fourth at the U20 World Team Trials. Hogan won a pair of matches via decision.
Kade Sottolano,
Nick Stampoulos and Sam Gautreau also represented Mat-Town with victories over the weekend at their respective weight class.
