BOWLING GREEN, Ohio –
The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team broke two Stroh Center records as well as a school record – for the second time this week – as the Falcons topped Defiance College, 118-35, Sunday afternoon (Dec. 7).

The Falcons (5-4) broke the Stroh Center record for points in a game, which had been set on Wednesday night (Dec. 3). And, the Orange and Brown set arena and school records for margin of victory – records which had also stood since Wednesday evening.

All 13 Falcons made at least one field goal and grabbed at least one rebound in the win. Junior Jaedyn Cook had 18 points, more than doubling her previous season-high total. Cook went 6-for-8 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the line. She also had two rebounds, two steals and a block, amassing all of those stats in under 10 minutes of action.

Both junior Paige Kohler and redshirt junior Jasmine Fearne scored 16 points, with Fearne's total representing a career high. Fearne hit four of the Falcons' 10 three-point field goals in the win.

Junior Taya Ellis had a double-double, tying her career best with 14 points and setting a new career standard with a game-high 13 rebounds.

Senior Emily Siesel had a career-high nine points, while freshman Ky'Aira Miller and sophomore Johnea Donahue each scored nine points as well. Miller's total tied her career best, while Donahue also had seven rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots.

Shaunie Little and Lorena Caparros each scored 11 points for the Yellow Jackets.

The Falcons took a 33-10 lead after the first quarter, and BGSU was never headed. The lead was 62-21 at the half, and 95-28 after three quarters, and the margin grew to a school-record 83 points in the final minute of the game.

OXFORD, Ohio–
Amber Tretter poured in 20 points to lead four Miami players in double figures and the RedHawks never trailed in an 80-53 victory over Western Kentucky Sunday afternoon. Tamar Singer matched her career high with 12 assists as Miami (7-3) earned its third consecutive win. The Lady Toppers fall to 3-6 on the year.

How it Happened:
  • Miami got off to a hot start shooting from beyond the arc, draining 6-of-7 from distance in the first quarter. Most of those baskets came via Singer assists, as the sophomore point guard collected a half-dozen helpers before subbing out for the first time just over four minutes into the game. The RedHawks used an 11-2 run to take their first double-digit lead at 22-11 on a Tretter triple and finished the quarter with a 28-17 advantage.
  • The RedHawks picked up where they left off in the second quarter, as a Tretter three-point play sparked a 9-0 run early in the period that ended with a Singer layup to make it 37-19 and force a Western Kentucky timeout. WKU didn't get any closer than 13 points the rest of the half, and Miami finished with a 10-2 spurt to stretch the margin even further. The hosts closed the half with a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Amber Scalia on Singer's 10th assist that gave the Red and White a 50-29 lead heading to the locker room.
  • Ilse de Vries converted a three-point play for the first points of the third quarter and added a post move with 6:44 remaining in the period to make it 56-31. A floater from Núria Jurjo and a Tretter right-corner three extended the lead to 61-36. Miami went up 64-38 on a backdoor layup from Scalia and took a 64-40 cushion into the final quarter.
  • A layup from de Vries finished off a 9-0 run in the fourth quarter that gave Miami its largest lead of the day at 73-42. After a late Ashton Elley three-pointer and a Clara Gonzalez Planella step-back jumper, Miami went on to close out a dominant 80-53 victory over the visitors.

CHICAGO –
The Western Michigan University women's basketball team picked up its second win of the season on Sunday afternoon in a 58-45 victory over the Loyola Ramblers.

Sophomore guard Alli Harness had a breakout game for the Broncos on Sunday in the Windy City against Loyola. Harness set a new career-high in scoring, leading WMU with 13 points on the floor. For the fifth straight game, sophomore guard Kailey Starks ended the afternoon in double digits with 10 points. On defense the Brown and Gold relied on redshirt senior forward De'Ahna Richardson with nine board on her birthday.

The Broncos made the first basket of the game as junior guard Nile Muguiera had a driving layup. WMU's offense went quiet just after the first points, not scoring for over four minutes. The Brown and Gold's defense stayed strong during the scoreless streak, only letting Loyola score five points. Senior guard Alli Carlson broke the drought with two free throws at the line to get Western Michigan's offense back into the game. Over the final five minutes of the first frame, the Broncos outscored the Ramblers 10-5 for a four-point advantage.

Both teams struggled offensively to begin the second quarter as the first basket wasn't scored until over three minutes in. WMU's offense broke through first with a free throw. The first field goal scored of the second frame came at 5:32 as freshman guard Olivia Flynn scored her first points with the Brown and Gold on a triple.

Western Michigan grew its lead into double figures with just under three minutes to go in the half on an eight-point run. Loyola scored a trey of its own to cut into the Broncos lead. But WMU quickly bounced back as the Brown and Gold ended the first half on an eight-point run. Western Michigan's defense shutout Loyola for over two minutes to close out the half and take a 31-15 halftime lead.

The start to the second half was a back-and-forth affair as the teams almost went shot for shot. The Broncos had a brief four-point run thanks to a three from Muguira. WMU went up to its largest lead of the game midway through the third ahead 22 points of the Ramblers 45-23 after Harness had back-to-back treys.

The Brown and Gold struggled to score at the end of the quarter, not hitting a basket for just under four minutes. But Western Michigan's defense held strong, only allowing Loyola to score five points, similar to the first quarter. The Broncos got in a jumper in the final 10 seconds of the quarter to have a 49-30 lead going into the final frame.

The Ramblers began to get hot in the fourth quarter, keeping WMU from scoring in the first two minutes on a seven-point run. The Brown and Gold took advantage of a chance at the charity stripe to snap the Loyola run, not allowing another run for five minutes. Starks led Western Michigan on the floor through the final five minutes with two field goals. The Broncos added three points in the final minute at the line, sealing their 58-45 win.

WMU outshot the Ramblers by almost 10%, going 20-46 from the floor at a 43.5% clip. The Brown and Gold also grabbed more boards than Loyola, taking 36 rebound with 10 on the offensive glass. Western Michigan had a strong bench game with 17 points from its non-starters.
