MAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week
Justina Intzes, Freshman, Striker, Miami
Mendoza, ARG (Santa Maria)
Justina scored both the game-winning and insurance goals as Miami defeated JMU on the road in a crucial MAC contest. She was instrumental on both offense and defense, playing a key role in the press to limit JMU's chances while also earning corners at the offensive end of the field. Her two goals helped Miami stay on top of the conference standings with a road victory.
MAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week
Sophia Baxter, Junior, Midfielder/Defender, App State
Sykesville, Md. (Marriots Ridge)
Sophia Baxter delivered another dominant weekend in Michigan, helping anchor a defense that allowed only one total goal in two games. Against Central Michigan, she scored her ninth goal of the season, while also actively disrupting counterattacks to hold the Chippewas to just three total shots. Against Michigan State, she was a true two-way force, scoring the game-winning goal and also logging a key defensive save to limit the Spartans to one goal in the program's first win over a Big Ten opponent in history.
MAC Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week
Nicky Sjouken, Junior, Miami
Doetinchemse, the Netherlands (Rietveld Lyceum)
Nicky was outstanding in the cage, making seven saves to keep JMU off the board, including not allowing any goals off corners. The only goal came from an unsettled situation in front of the cage.
