BGSU's Newman, Western Michigan's Mee Earn Weekly Conference Honors

MAC Baseball Player of the Week
Grady Mee, Western Michigan, 2B
Sophomore, Toledo, Ohio (Whitmer)
Grady Mee had a huge weekend for WMU in its four-game sweep at Pepperdine, as he went 8-for-14 (.571) at the plate with eight runs scored, six RBIs and a .684 on-base percentage. The sophomore had two hits and scored at least once in each of the four games, starting on Friday when he hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to put Western Michigan on top, 6-4. The Broncos went on to win that game 11-4 and after his grand slam, did not trail for the rest of the weekend. After racking up four hits and three runs in Saturday's twin bill sweep, Mee capped his weekend by going 2-for-3 with two walks, two RBIs and three runs scored as the Brown and Gold finished their four-game weekend sweep with a 19-1 victory.

MAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
DJ Newman, Bowling Green, Pitcher
Sophomore, Archbold, Ohio (Archbold)
In a weekend where Memphis tallied 28 runs, DJ Newman kept them scoreless over seven innings in his start on Friday (Feb. 23). Getting the nod on the mound in the series opener, Newman gave up just two hits and one walk to the Tigers while striking out a career-high 11 and not allowing a run. Newman's 11 strikeouts are tied for the most by a MAC pitcher this season and his seven innings are tied for second. He picked up the win, his first of the season and BGSU's first over Memphis in program history.
