MAC Announces Women's Soccer Player of the Week Honors

MAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Jen Blitchok, Western Michigan, Forward
Graduate student, Grandville, Mich. (Grandville)

In her first two games with Western Michigan, graduate student Jen Blitchok made her presence felt. She scored two of the team's three goals and helped the squad to a 2-0 record to start the season.

In a 1-0 victory at Northern Kentucky, Blitchok netted the game-winning goal with just over five minutes to play in the game. She had three shots on goal.

In her second game in the Brown and Gold, Blitchok's lone shot on goal proved to be a big one, as she netted the game-winning goal yet again in a 2-1 victory at Eastern Kentucky.

MAC Women’s Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Emily Lazenby, Buffalo, Defender
Fifth year, Richmond Hill, ON, Canada (Alexander Mackenzie HS)

Fifth year defender Emily Lazenby was a major factor in UB's success this weekend as she won every tackle and was the lead organizer for a Bulls squad that was even in goals against two Power 5 opponents. Buffalo defeated Ohio State 2-1 in Columbus on Sunday for the first road Power 5 win in program history and the first Power 5 victory for UB since 2015.

MAC Women’s Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Maia Soulis, Ohio, Defender
Sophomore, Sylvania, Ohio (Notre Dame Academy)

Playing in all but ten minutes on Thursday, Maia Soulis was integral towards the Bobcats clean sheet in the win over Duquesne. Soulis was the centerpiece of a strong backline that limited the Dukes to just two shots on goal.

She also proved to be a difficult defender to get past as she made a number of tackles to stall Duquesne's offensive threats.
