Kent State Sweeps Player of the Week Honors

MAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Kelsey Salopek, Kent State, Midfield

Freshman midfielder Kelsey Salopek had a breakout week, scoring three goals for the Golden Flashes as the team won both of their games to start conference play. Salopek netted her first career goal with a header in the first half of the conference opener against Ohio on Thursday night, then scored another off of a header in the second half to record her first career brace. In the Wagon Wheel rivalry game against Akron on Sunday, Salopek tallied her third goal of the weekend to extend the Flashes' lead in the second half and seal the victory. The freshman took five shots on the weekend, and all three of her shots on goal found the back of the net.
 
MAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Dalaney Ranallo, Kent State, Defender       
Junior, Jefferson Hills, Pa. (Thomas Jefferson)        
Junior defender Dalaney Ranallo helped lead the Kent State defense to two straight shutout victories to start conference play and tallied two assists on the weekend. On Thursday night, Ranallo assisted on the game-winning goal against Ohio with a beautifully-placed free kick into the box for her first assist of the season. She also recorded an assist on Sunday against in the Wagon Wheel rivalry game against Akron, again off of a well-placed free kick. Ranallo and the Flashes' defense limited Akron to only six shots, none on goal, and only two corner kicks.
