CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the 2022 Outdoor Track & Field post season awards on Wednesday. All awards are voted on by the head coaches in the conference, with the exception of All-MAC Teams and Freshmen Performers of the Year, which are determined on points earned at the conference championship meet.
Carmen Riano set a new MAC meet record in the 3K Steeplechase, running 9:58.31, then the next day, she won the women's 5K by 17s over her own teammate, and 22s over the next competitor, walking away with 20pts for the RedHawks. This season, she has dropped 22s on her Steeple PR, and nearly 30s on her 5000m PR. Carmen is also currently ranked 20th in the NCAA in the 3K Steeplechase and 52nd in the 5K.
Jacqueline Pokuaah of Akron took home the Women’s Most Outstanding Field Performer award by winning the long jump and triple jump. In the triple jump she leaped 12.97m and in the long jump 6.15m. Pokuaah has the 12th best mark in the triple jump in the country and scored 22 points in the meet, leading Akron to the MAC Team Championship.
Akron’s Dominika Stokowska was influential on the Zips winning the Outdoor Championship. Stokowska’s student-athletes she coached and trained accumulated 70 points on the weekend. In addition, she coached female MVP of the meet Fegor Clifford and Freshman Track Athlete of the Meet, Adaeze Nwokike.
