BGSU's Gurney, CMU's Jones Receive Weekly Baseball Honors

Kyle Gurney paced the Falcons to four wins over five games in the last week, including three straight against Akron and one on the road over Big 10 opponent Michigan State. Gurney began the week with a pair of RBI against the Spartans before having two hits in each game against the Zips. Gurney logged four home runs against Akron and tallied nine RBI in the process. He finished the week with a .429 batting average, 1.048 slugging pct., 11 RBI’s and 22 total bases. Gurney is now in the midst of a 13-game hitting streak while also scoring in 10 straight.
 
MAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Jake Jones, Central Michigan, RHP

Jones had an outstanding weekend as Central Michigan swept Ohio in CMU's home opening series. Jones picked up a pair of victories in relief, allowing no runs and one hit while striking out eight and walking just two in 4.2 innings of work. On Saturday, Jones entered with CMU trailing and earned the win in the comeback by holding the Bobcats hitless in 1.2 innings of work with three strikeouts. Jones entered Sunday's game in relief and threw 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out five Bobcats. The five punch outs was a CMU career best for Jones.
