Ohio's Hooks Earns Player of the Week Honors

On the same day that Cece Hooks was recognized for setting a new Ohio career scoring record one week prior on Jan. 15, Hooks set the MAC scoring record while leading the Bobcats to a victory over Bowling Green with a 27 point, 10 rebound double-double. Hooks was three assists shy of her second career triple-double in Ohio's 85-70 win.

Williams had a very productive week on the glass, and a monster game on Saturday at Miami, where she recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 18 points on 7-10 shooting and 15 rebounds in a game against a strong rebounding team in Miami that was ultimately decided by nine points. She also finished with a game-high +/- efficiency rating of +20 against the RedHawks.          
 
Quinesha Lockett, Toledo, G/F          
Junior, Omaha, Neb. (Benson)          
Junior Quinesha Lockett played a key part in Toledo's two victories this week that pushed their conference record to 8-0. At Ball State on Wednesday, the Rockets trailed by 15 at one point but came back to win, 58-55, to remain unbeaten in league play. Lockett scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out four assists in the win. On Saturday at home, Lockett played a key role in Toledo's huge 75-66 win over Buffalo, notching her fourth double-double of the season by scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, all while registering a career-high seven assists as well and going 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Lockett has been a huge part of Toledo's eight-game winning streak that has them 8-0 in MAC play, leading the Rockets in points (16.8), rebounds (7.5), assists (4.0), and steals (1.6) during that timespan.
 
Ce'Nara Skanes, Eastern Michigan, Forward            
Redshirt Sophomore, Oklahoma City, Okla. (Putnam City West)    
Redshirt sophomore Ce'Nara Skanes was outstanding in a pair of games for Eastern Michigan last week. A dominant force down low, Skanes averaged nearly 13 points per contest, while hauling in a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game. A defensive asset in the paint, Skanes was outstanding against Western Michigan, Jan. 24, as she tied a career-high with three blocked shots. She added yet another block against NIU, Jan. 22. Her shooting average of better than 53% is the best of any player in the conference, while her 1.2 BPG ranks fourth in the league.            
 
Chelby Koker, Northern Illinois, Guard         
Junior, Racine, Wis. (Shoreland Lutheran)   
Chelby Koker averaged 18.5 points and 4.0 assists per game this week as NIU split games at Miami and Eastern Michigan. Koker scored a game-high 20 points at Miami Wednesday night, with 10 points in the first quarter alone. On Saturday, the junior guard filled the box score with 17 points, six assists, five rebounds and a steal. Koker was 4-for-8 from the field, 3-for-4 from long range and 6-for-8 at the foul line.       
 
Thelma Dis Agustsdottir, Ball State, Forward           
Senior, Keflavik, Iceland        
Dis Agustsdottir averaged 14.0 points per contest this week for the Cardinals while shooting a staggering 60 percent (6-of-10) from behind the arc. Agustsdottir opened the week with a 10 point performance while pulling down eight rebounds in midweek MAC action against Toledo. She then led the Cardinals in Saturday’s win versus Central Michigan after scoring 14 points. Agustsdottir tallied four 3-pointers against the Chippewas. She also played stellar defense as Ball State held CMU to only 57 points.        
 
Kadie Hempfling, Bowling Green, Forward  
Senior, Ottawa, Ohio (Ottawa-Glandorf)     
Bowling Green senior Kadie Hempfling led the Falcons in scoring in both of last week’s games, with 15 points in a 92-68 win over Central Michigan and 21 in an 85-70 loss at Ohio. The 21-point total vs. the Bobcats was just one point shy of her career high. Hempfling shot 56% from the field in the two games, and now has a career total of 978 points as a Falcon. On the season, Hempfling has a team-high 11.4 points per game. She leads the Falcons with 13.2 ppg in MAC contests.          
 
Dyaisha Fair, Buffalo, Guard  
Junior, Rochester, NY (Edison Tech)
Dyaisha Fair had another solid week for the Bulls as she averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game to lead UB to a pair of wins on the week. On Monday, Fair scored 26 points and added seven rebounds and five assists to lead the Bulls to a 65-62 win over Kent State. On Wednesday, she scored a game-high 20 points to go with seven rebounds and three assists in a double-digit win over Akron and added 14 points at Toledo on Saturday.
 
The Rochester, NY native leads the MAC and is sixth in the nation in scoring (22.9 ppg) while also ranking in the top 20 in field goals made (129), three point field goals made (46), three point field goals made per game (2.9) and total points (367). Last week she was named to to the NCAA women's basketball mid-season starting five and is the only mid-major player on the list.
 
Edyn Battle, Miami, Guard    
Freshman, Gahanna, Ohio     
Edyn Battle had her best week of her career for the RedHawks, averaging 14.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, helping Miami to a pair of conference wins. Battle shot .500 (14-28) from the floor, was 5-of-9 from behind the arc and a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line for the week. She had a career high 18 points and five assists in a win over Ohio and added nine points in a win over NIU. She wrapped up the week with 15 points versus the Broncos. The freshman came off the bench in all three games.
