OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University volleyball team (4-1) opened the Miami/Best Western Invitational with a four-set win against Evansville (0-5) and defeated the Roos of Kansas City (3-2) in three sets.

Lauren Coyne led all players with 12 kills, and Molly Creech followed closely with 10 of her own in the opener. Creech also set the pace with the most service aces (three) of the match, and Holland Van Deusen had the most assists (24) for Miami. Defensively, Rachel Morgan totaled the most digs (15), while Coyne (three) and Lindy Radaszewski (three) each led the RedHawks in blocks. Molly Creech made a strong impact on the court with the most kills (14) and digs (15) in the nightcap match, while Holland Van Deusen led all players in assists (21) and Sophia Stallworth totaled the greatest number of blocks (three).

NOTES VS. EVANSVILLE:
  • Miami had a .244 hitting percentage in comparison to .070 by Evansville.
  • The RedHawks served 11 aces and held the Purple Aces to just one.
  • The Red and White held a team under double digits in a set for the second time this season (set three, 25-6).

  • Miami had a .310 hitting percentage in comparison to .137 by Kansas City.

PITTSBURGH, Pa.– The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team split a doubleheader Friday, Sept. 4 at the Chick-fil-A Robinson Classic, falling to Duquesne University 0-3 (22-25, 20-25, 14-25) before rebounding to sweep Robert Morris University 3-0 (28-26, 25-19, 25-16), moving to 4-1 overall on the season, the program's best start since 2015.

The day belonged to freshman Haley Trosky, who delivered a stunning breakout performance in her homecoming match against Robert Morris — recording 15 kills on 28 attempts with just one error for a .500 hitting percentage, a new career high in kills (previous best: 11 vs. Southern Indiana). Trosky, who had totaled just three kills earlier in the day against Duquesne, shattered her previous career high with the performance. Fellow freshman Nattie Slusher was EMU's most efficient weapon in the opening match, posting a career-high 12 kills on 21 attempts with one error for a .524 hitting percentage — the best mark of any player in that contest — before adding 10 more kills against Robert Morris to finish with 22 kills across the doubleheader.

Anchoring the back row throughout both matches was fourth-year Surabhi Srinivasan, who totaled 29 digs on the day — 12 against Duquesne and a match-high 17 against Robert Morris. Freshman setter Lina Govoni posted 21 assists, 11 digs, two kills and 1.5 blocks against Robert Morris in a standout all-around performance, recording her first double-double for the Eagles.

» Eastern's best set was the second, recording 13 kills off a .333 hitting percentage with two aces and two blocks.
» Freshman Nattie Slusher recorded her third-consecutive match with a career high in kills. Slusher put down 12 kills off 21 attacks for a career-best .524 hitting percentage. She previously recorded a career-best eight kills in the 3-1 win over Southern Indiana, Aug. 28, before posting nine kills in the sweep against Murray State, Aug. 29. Her point totals have risen in each outing: 2.5 (vs. Northern Illinois, Aug. 28), nine (vs. Southern Indiana, Aug. 28), 10 (vs. Murray State, Aug. 29) and 12 (vs. Duquesne, Sept. 4).
» Haley Trosky, Olivia Beaudrie, and Azra Eriç all recorded their first solo blocks in their respective EMU careers. Eriç has recorded at least three blocks in every game as an Eagle as she leads the team and ranks second in the MAC with 1.67 blocks per set. Additionally, Trosky has posted at least three blocks in three of her first four contests.
» Surabhi Srinivasan posted her fourth consecutive game with 10+ digs as she totals 26 in her NCAA career. Srinivasan ranks second in the MAC with 4.20 digs per set
» Olivia Stewart made her NCAA debut. She recorded one kill off five swings.
» Mia Schaefer totaled three aces, all in the first set. Her trio of aces were a match high and the most in her Eastern Michigan career.
» Lina Govoni distributed 11 assists to direct the EMU offense. The freshman setter from Joliet, Ill. has totaled 65 assists through four 2026 matches.

» Eastern Michigan improves their record to 4-1 on the 2026 season with the sweep, its best start since the 2015 season.
» Haley Trosky recorded a career-high 15 kills on 28 attempts (.500 hitting percentage) against Robert Morris — shattering her previous career high of 11 kills (vs. Southern Indiana), set earlier in the 2026 season. She finished the doubleheader with 34 career kills and is now 16 kills away from 50 for her career.
» Lina Govoni posted 21 assists against Robert Morris, adding 11 digs, two kills (.500), 1.5 blocks and one ace in a standout all-around performance, recording her first double-double for the Eagles.

» Olivia Beaudrie contributed nine digs and two assists against Robert Morris.
» Nattie Slusher added 10 kills against Robert Morris after her career-high 12-kill performance against Duquesne, totaling 22 kills across the doubleheader.
» Taeley Mahler added three kills with five block assists (2.5 total blocks) against Robert Morris, demonstrating her value in the team's blocking system.
» Eastern Michigan out-blocked Robert Morris 12.0 to 4.0, holding the Colonials to a .105 hitting percentage and forcing 27 attack errors — more than double EMU's 13.

Ohio | Box Score
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – In its first match of the Indy Invite, the Ohio volleyball team (4-1, 0-0 MAC) defeated Youngstown State (2-3, 0-0 Horizon) 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 25-12) on Friday, Sept. 4.

Ohio finished 60 kills, eight aces, 12 blocks, 57 assists and 72 digs. Youngstown State finished with 44 kills, five aces, six blocks, 37 assists and 57 digs. The Bobcats recorded a .283 team hitting percentage and held the Penguins to a .177 percentage.

Senior Torre Kildow was a major offensive force for Ohio. Kildow recorded a .500 attack percentage with a team-high 19 kills and two errors on 34 total attacks. She also led the team in aces (3) and points (23.5). Sophomore Bailey Blair tallied 12 kills and 14 points for the Bobcats.

Freshman Rowan Kelly distributed a team-high 39 assists while also recording a .667 attack percentage (6-0-9). Kelly, Rose Mahin and senior Olivia Gardner all contributed to Ohio's offense, tallying six kills each.

Defensively, sophomore Lacy Marx led the team in digs with 20 total. Four Bobcats, including Marx, recorded double-digit digs --Blair tallied 12, Kelly recorded 11 and Mahin finished with 10 digs.

Sophomore Cienna Lapsley, Gardner, Kelly and senior Emily Waddell led Ohio at the net. Waddell recorded two solo blocks in addition to one block assist. Lapsley, Gardner and Kelly tallied a team-high four blocks each.

The Bobcats will conclude their week of competition at Butler on Saturday, Sept. 5. First serve is set for 5 p.m. ET at Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team opened their home schedule with a split against Arkansas State and American on the opening day of the Best Western Invitational.

The Falcons opened up the day with a five-set loss to Arkansas State (23-25, 31-29, 17-25, 25-22, 8-15) before picking up a four-set victory over American (25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 25-19).

In the team's first match, four Falcons ended with double-digit kills led by Avery Hobson, who registered 16. Karli Molnau, Helen Wilford and Anastasija Bozic all joined Hobson in double-digit marks. Amanda Otten recorded her second consecutive double-double, leading BGSU with 41 assists and 16 digs.

In the nightcap, Hobson tallied a match-high 17 kills while Otten dished out a match-best 42 assists.

Falcon Facts
  • The loss to Arkansas State evens up the all-time series to 1-1 between the two programs, dating back to 1996.
  • Bowling Green remains perfect against American, improving to 2-0 all-time against the Eagles.
  • The Falcons matched the all-time record for service aces in a four-set match during the rally scoring era with 13. Avery Anders was credited with a career-high four aces. Sydnie Hernandez and Hobson each added three apiece.
  • Amanda Otten recorded a double-double in the first match against Arkansas State, marking back-to-back double-double outings.
  • Avery Hobson added a double-double of her own with a team-leading 15 kills and 11 digs, her first of the year after posting six last season. Hobson also led the team in aces with a pair. 
  • Sydnie Hernandez led the back row for the Falcons against American with a team-leading 15 digs, one of three different Falcons to register double-digit digs.

Ball State | Box Score
FAIRBORN, Ohio - - The Ball State women's volleyball team hit a season-high .304 (47-13-112) to earn a 3-0 (25-19, 25-23 25-23) sweep of Dayton Friday afternoon in its second match of the Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational hosted by Wright State at the Nutter Center.

In sweeping the Atlantic 10 preseason favorite, the Cardinals (4-0) were led by another solid performance from junior outside Audrey Geer who collected 12 kills and 10 digs for her third consecutive double-double.

It was the second straight match Ball State defeated a team receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Coaches Poll as the Flyers (3-1) earned 25 votes this past Monday.

While Geer was the only Cardinals attacker in double figures, junior opposite Tiffany Snook continued her solid start to the season with eight kills and a .368 (8-1-19) rate of success. Meanwhile, junior outside Ava Smith added nine kills, nine digs and BSU's lone solo block of the outing.

While she only had five kills and a .364 (5-1-11) hitting mark, senior middle Gwen Crull provided a big lift for Ball State early, serving tough for the Cardinals in an 8-0 run in the opening set.

Dishing the rock were the setting duo of senior Lindsey Green and Reese Axness, who have led the Cardinals to .300-or-better hitting marks in back-to-back matches. Green led all players with 26 assists, while Axness added 16. Both would also collect seven digs, while Axness served up three aces, including one to end the second set.

Also putting pressure on opponents has been the defensive play of junior libero Sophie Ledbetter who collected a team-best 13 digs Friday. The effort raised her career total to 982, leaving her 18 shy of becoming the 22nd player in program history to reach 1,000 career digs.

More big performances in the backcourt came from Geer and Smith, as the duo were both perfect in serve receive on 24 attempts season. That helped limit the Flyers to two aces.

The Ball State women's volleyball team closes play in the Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational Saturday afternoon with a 4 p.m. match versus host Wright State. The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN+.


Western Michigan | Box Score
OMAHA, Neb. – The Western Michigan volleyball team rode a hot start to a straight-set victory (25-6, 25-20, 25-12) over Chicago State on Friday afternoon at the Omaha Tournament.

Leah Richmond filled up the stats sheet for the Broncos, totaling 31 assists, eight kills on nine swings (.889 hitting percentage), eight digs and three service aces. The redshirt sophomore set up Gabby Weihe (.692) and Annalise Patchett (.316) for a team-high 11 kills apiece and helped the Brown and Gold hit a season-best .344 for the afternoon. Carley Piercefield anchored the defensive performance with a team-leading 11 digs.
  
Western Michigan wraps up play at the Omaha Tournament on Saturday afternoon against Louisiana Tech. First serve is set for 12 pm.   


Buffalo | Box Score 
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (4-1, 0-0 MAC) defeated the reigning American East Tournament Champion UMBC Retrievers (2-1, 0-0 America East) in a thrilling five-set match at Broadview Arena on Friday evening, 26-24, 25-23, 21-25, 23-25, 15-5. The Bulls have now won three straight matches.

Hailey Campagna recorded her first career double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs. She also finished with a .393 hitting percentage. Manoela Forlin and Maddie Mitchell also recorded double-doubles as the former had 16 kills and 12 digs with the latter tallying 43 assists and 10 digs. Sydney Bell had a season-high 13 kills in the win.

Chloe Brown tied her career-high in digs with 16 on the night.

The Bulls followed up their win over Canisius with 12 blocks. Over the last two matches, they've managed 25 total blocks.

Their weekend will close against Dartmouth on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Broadview Arena.
