Two Minute Drill

• Western Michigan hosts Boise State at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday in a marquee nonconference matchup at Waldo Stadium with significant implications as the season unfolds. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.

• Toledo pulled off one of the most unlikely comebacks in program history last Saturday, rallying from a 42-28 deficit with fewer than three and a half minutes to play to stun Temple, 49-48, in overtime at the Glass Bowl. The Rockets scored twice in an 11-second span, including an onside-kick recovery, to force overtime before stopping Temple’s two-point attempt to seal the win.

• UMass scored 33 straight points last week in a 36-14 win over Stonehill, improving to 3-0 for the first time since 2007. T.Y. Harding scored twice for the second straight week, rushing for a 56-yard touchdown and adding a 51-yard receiving score.

• Western Michigan improved to 2-1 with a 28-21 road win at Rice on Saturday, Sept. 19, outgaining the Owls, 333-330, and holding them to 1-of-10 on third down. Jalen Buckley rushed for a season-high 117 yards and a touchdown, while Lolo Matalae added 62 yards and a score. Broc Lowry accounted for two touchdowns, rushing for one and passing for another.

• Central Michigan rushed for 339 yards last Saturday in a 24-10 win over Wyoming, its highest rushing total in seven seasons. Quarterback Angel Flores led the way with 163 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while Brock Townsend added a 38-yard touchdown run.

• The MAC announced that it will move to a nine-game conference football schedule beginning with the 2028 season, providing each member institution with an additional conference matchup while preserving opportunities for non-conference competition. The decision was approved by the MAC Council of Directors of Athletics. Beginning in 2028, each MAC football program will play nine conference games and three non-conference contests during the regular season.

• Toledo quarterback John Alan Richter earned Davey O’Brien Great 8 and Manning Star of the Week honors following his record-setting performance in the Rockets’ comeback victory over Temple last week. Richter also earned MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after completing 36 of 51 passes for 429 yards and four touchdowns, both career highs.
