ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team (6-4, 0-0 MAC) swept its doubleheader against Morgan State (1-10, 0-0 MEAC) and UNC Asheville (11-3, 0-0 Big South), concluding day one of the Bobcat Invitational presented by AthensOhio.com on Friday, Sept.18.
Game 1: Ohio 3, Morgan State 1
Ohio finished with 66 kills, nine aces, one block, 54 assists and 42 digs. Morgan State finished with 33 kills, nine aces, four blocks, 26 assists and 27 digs. The Bobcats recorded a .338 team hitting percentage while the Bears recorded a .214 team hitting percentage.
Freshman
Rose Mahin, senior
Torre Kildow, and sophomore
Bailey Blair were top performers for the Bobcats against Morgan Mahin recorded a team-high 14 kills and 14.0 points. Kildow recorded a team-best .667 attack percentage with 12 kills and two errors on 15 total attacks. Blair tallied double-digit kills for the fifth time this season, recording 11 kills and 11.0 points.
Ohio's two setters, sophomore
Lillie Meinhart and freshman
Rowan Kelly, recorded 25 and 17 assists, respectively.
Junior
Darbi Ricketts was responsible for four of Ohio's nine aces. Meinhart and sophomore
Cienna Lapsley added two aces each.
Defensively, Mahin and Blair led the team in digs with eight each. Senior
Gentry Brown finished with seven digs, the second most on the team. Lapsley recorded Ohio's only block.
Game 2: Ohio 3, UNC Asheville 0
Ohio finished with 39 kills, six aces, three blocks, 38 assists and 44 digs. UNC Asheville finished with 27 kills, five aces, two blocks, 26 assists and 26 digs. The Bobcats recorded a .267 team hitting percentage while the Bulldogs recorded a .146 team hitting percentage.
Kildow was once again a top performer for Ohio, tallying a team-high 10 kills and 10.5 points. Mahin was a key contributor with nine kills, 9.0 points and a team-high 11 digs. Blair and senior
Emily Waddell combined for 13 total kills. Waddell also led Ohio at the net with three blocks. Meinhart and Kelly combined for 31 assists.
The Bobcats will conclude the Bobcat Invitational against Mercyhurst on Saturday, Sept. 19 in the Convocation Center. First serve is set for 2 p.m. ET and the game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
Western Michigan | Box Score
MILWAUKEE – The Western Michigan volleyball team had five different players record double-digit kills and three notch double-doubles in a five-set victory (22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 16-14) victory over St. Thomas on Friday.
Leah Richmond fueled the Western Michigan attack with 52 assists and 21 digs to collect her third double-double of the campaign.
Gabby Weihe (.545 hitting percentage) and
Bri Zimmerman (.323) registered a team-high 14 kills apiece, followed closely by
Izzy Swiercz's 13. Annalise Patched notched 11 kills and
Mia Jurkovic picked up a season-high 10 for the Brown and Gold.
On the defensive side, Richmond's 21 digs tied with
Carley Piercefield for the team lead, while Patchett and Swiercz picked up 11 apiece to complete their double-doubles.
Elana Erickson also chipped in 11 digs for the Broncos. Weihe set the pace up front for WMU with five blocks.
Zimmerman's career-high 14th kill of the night sealed the victory for the Brown and Gold.
Western Michigan wraps up non-conference action on Saturday at Milwaukee. First serve is set for 5 pm.

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron volleyball team bounced back in a big way Thursday night, overcoming an opening-set setback to post a convincing 3-1 victory over Youngstown State at James A. Rhodes Arena. After dropping the first set, 25-20, the Zips dominated the final three frames, winning 25-21, 25-13 and 25-15, to improve to 4-6 on the season.
Akron found its rhythm offensively after the opening set, hitting .600 in the second frame, .619 in the third and .484 in the fourth to finish the night with a .432 team hitting percentage. The Zips also registered 59 kills, 56 assists, 62 digs and six total team blocks.
DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Delaney Gash recorded her third double-double of the season, finishing with 13 kills and 19 digs. Gash also added four service aces and four assists in the victory.

• Akron improved to 4-6 overall with Thursday's victory, while Youngstown State fell to 3-7.
• Akron's .432 hitting percentage marked a strong offensive turnaround after hitting .147 in the opening set. The Zips followed with three consecutive sets hitting .600, .619 and .484.
• Gash led Akron with 13 kills and 19 digs, while Wolf and Ozoh each added nine kills. Lauren Wilson contributed eight kills and hit .312.
• Wolf was particularly efficient offensively, recording nine kills on 13 attempts with just one error for a .615 hitting percentage.
• Ozoh finished with nine kills on 16 attempts without an attack error, producing a .562 hitting percentage.
• Prascevic paced the Akron offense with 24 assists, while Payton Evans also contributed to the Zips' balanced setting attack.

Bowling Green, Ohio – Sophomore
Karli Molnau put down a team-high 15 kills on 28 attempts for a .429 hitting percentage to lead Bowling Green to a 3-1 (26-24, 18-25, 25-22, 25-22) victory over Dayton Friday evening at the Stroh Center.
The Falcons improved to 8-2 overall and have won five out of their last six matches, meanwhile, Dayton fell to 7-5 on the season.
Senior
Avery Hobson added 14 kills and 13 digs for her first double-double of the season. Fellow senior
Amanda Otten dished out a match-high 31 assists while junior
Sydnie Hernandez led the team with 14 digs. Bowling Green won the blocking battle, 14-6, with senior
Helen Wilford accounting for five block assists.
For the Flyers, Kaleigh Meritt notched a match-high 18 kills and teammate Kamryn Hunt added 16. Morgan Asleson tallied 15 digs as the Flyers recorded a 65-56 margin in that category.
Falcon Facts
- Bowling Green matched up with Dayton for the 24th time in program history. BGSU leads the all-time series with a 14-10 record and registered their first win over the Flyers since 2005, snapping a four-match losing skid.
- Hobson's double-double was the seventh of her career. She has the second-most double-doubles by any active player.
- Bowling Green hit at a .301-clip as a team, the highest single-match average this season. BGSU is 6-0 under head coach Alex DelPiombowhen hitting at .300-or-higher as a team.
- BG has tallied double-digit block assists in every single match this season. The Falcons average 2.79 blocks per set and entered the contest 8th in the nation in total blocks (97.5).
- Helen Wilford registered back-to-back matches with six blocks and has tallied five-or-more in five of the Falcons' seven matches this season.
