AKRON, Ohio – The No. 28 Kent State Golden Flashes finished the opening round of the 2026 MAC Women's Golf Championship with a team score of 278 (-2). Veronika Kedronova (No. 25) paced the Flashes with an 18-hole score of 67 (-3) while teammate Leon Takagi posted a 68 (-2) to lead Kent State to a three-shot advantage over the field. Kedronova notched five birdies on the day while Takagi added three in addition to an eagle on the par-5 17th hole. Kent State's opening score of 278 is also the lowest as a team of any round this season.
Bowling Green's Sammie Dolce joined KSU's Kedronova atop the individual leaderboard with a 67 (-3) of her own in Sunday's round. Dolce recorded four birdies and just one bogey on the tournament's very first hole before finishing the remaining 17 holes at (-4).
In the process, Dolce and Kedronova tied the lowest individual opening round by any player in MAC Women's Golf Championship history, just one year after Ball State's Jasmine Driscoll did the same at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Indiana.
No. 19 Eastern Michigan closed out the day on the heels of Kent State at 281 (+1) as Savannah de Bock led EMU with an day-one tally of 68 (-2), including an front-nine score of 30, while fellow Eagle Janae Leovao entered the clubhouse even at 70.
