BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo linebacker Red Murdock was selected 257th overall in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos on Saturday afternoon.

Known as Mr. Irrelevant, the final pick of the NFL Draft is celebrated with a week-long event called Irrelevant Week. Murdock will travel to Newport Beach, CA and be honored with a parade, banquet and trip to Disneyland this summer.

Murdock became the first Bull selected in the NFL Draft since Malcolm Koonce was taken in the third round by the Las Vegas Raiders on 2021. He was the first UB player ever drafted by the Denver Broncos.

Murdock was one of the best linebackers to ever play at UB. A two-time first-team All-MAC selection, he finished his career with 364 tackles, 39.5 tackles for loss and a NCAA-record 17 forced fumbles. Along with being named an All-American in 2026, the Petersburg, VA native was also the program's first finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy and was named to the AFCA Allstate Good Works Team.

Murdock looks to join eight other former UB players on current NFL rosters.
